Do I wonder? Yes and no. I completely understand how the hatred that is shouted from so many pulpits and broadcast in the name of God turns people away.

On the other hand, the God that I know is a loving and merciful God, who genuinely cares for his creation. I do often wonder why people refuse to acknowledge and worship this God, who loves them regardless of their feelings toward him (I know, masculine pronoun, but anything else makes for an awkward sentence structure).

Don't let the jerks out there define God for you. Study and search for yourself.

And for the record, I love John Lennon's music. Whatever gets you through the night

Sounds like you're atheist. You know there are many atheist filled with hate. But you don't base your own personal beliefs and feelings on the acts and beliefs of some, do you? Christians can understand when the Bible states that to live in sin means to be lost eternally. Most Christians wouldn't openly apply it to an individual. Some do but Christianity can't be based on those few. Christianity can only be based on it's creator, Jesus.

To answer your actual question; we don't often wonder why you don't join us (actually it's joining Him). We do, however, often wonder why you can't see God's love when it's so obvious to us.

If the proportion of hate-filled ******* disqualifies a religion or worldview, I'd be left with no choices.

The test that a person will want to, or not want to know God is accurate in determining whether or not the will of the Father is at work on a person. Jesus said that no one comes to Him unless the Father draws them. So one reason why someone would not want to become a Christian isn't really resentment, it's the lack of God wanting them to become Christian.

God does not want everybody.

The choice is totally up to you, you cannot look at others and make that an excuse, you will be held accountable for you and what you did. Excuses will not hold up.

I don't wonder about it. It's your soul and you can choose what to do with it. I don't lose sleep over it. It's really none of my business whether you "join" us or not. That is between you and Him.
