I really like this guy, I'm semi-sure he likes me. I want to know if the following is considered a date, in your eyes, please.
- I invited him to the movies this Friday, as a sort of bday 'party' (mine).
- I'm paying for the tickets.
- It's just us going, no other friends of mine.
- We've been friends for 3 years, not best friends, just friends.
- I'm turning 17, he is 17, and we're both in 11th grade.

What do you think? Any answers or input are appreciated. Thank you for your time.

(P.S. If you really want more info on how he acts towards me, you could read the following, but it's not even close to necessary. Thank you.)

We've been friends since 8th grade, and I think he liked me even back then, but I was too stupid to pay attention and act on it, although once in 9th grade, I did get him a calendar for Christmas. (Wow, I can't believe I did that, looking back.) I'm REALLY interested in him now, and we are going to the movies for my 17th b-day on Friday. He's kind of shy, and I want to know if he's interested in me as a friend, or something more.
He usually has one or two things to say to me as I enter the classroom, then that's it, and he leaves without looking back. He babbled on about how he'd have to be really sick and puking and bleeding for his mom to let him stay home, the one day his best friend (a dude) was absent, although he did walk with me out of the classroom that day. This past Fri. we had a fire drill, and I saw him with his friends, his friends sort of pointed me out to him, but he looked up, then back away very quickly. (I was far away.)

Yes. This is a date. I think it is something that you both want to do to feel eathother out to see how you feel about eachother. I am pretty sure he likes you. Why else would he want to go to the movies with ONLY you??

Don't come on too strong though, just go with the flow. Have a lot of fun so that he knows the two of you will always have fun together.

I will have my fingers crossed for you!!

It all sounds good to me!!! I think he likes you as more than a friend. The cinema is a great place to go for a first date, what kind of movie will you see?? A thriller or horror would be great because then you could make being scared as an excuse to grab his hand!!!! Because you will be watching the movie you won't have to make too much small talk either.

Good luck for Friday and Happy Birthday :)

yes i would consider it somewhat of a date....
you say this guy is shy...i think by your description...that yes he is interested...i think you should let him know that you dig him...dont be pushy about it...just maybe at the end of your "bday party" you can let him know you had a REALLY great time and hope that you can do it more often...then tell you dig him...or you dont really have to come out and say it...but it may be what's gunna get the ball rolling....it may be all hes waiting for...

It has all the makings of a date, yes, but it doesn't have to be. You could just be going out as friends. It depends on what he thinks and what you think, and what you want to happen.

i think of he probable seems at it like a chum element. ( a social gathering on your birthday). It relies upon on the form you act on the action picture. there's a diverse distinction between the form you would be with a chum and a date. merely be slightly flirty and that i'm advantageous he gets the hint. And happy birthday, wish it works out.
