well there is being frank and being rude. Some people cant tell the difference, so, I always say, May I be frank? meaning, May I be honest with you? Because even though people always say they want to hear the truth, this is not always the case, alot of people want you to tell them what they want to hear. So when you are being frank, they consider it to be rude. They want the truth but not the blatant truth.... they like it sugar coated just a bit!!

Maybe because frankness can seem like rudeness or arrogance.
We are all different. No one is right 100% of the time. We get along in society by being sensitive to each others wants and needs. If you believe someone else wants or needs to know something from you, then it is more acceptable if presented in a socially sensitive way.
You don't HAVE to. You can be as 'frank' as you like -- provided you are prepared to accept the consequences. To have asked the question, you must be a decent sort of person. Why would you want to appear less than that?

Probably, because when you issue the frankness you are doing it in front of other people or saying it loudly so other people can hear it. (thus putting the person on the defense) Like telling someone that they have bad breath or why you dress funny. When you could of just offered them a breath mint or said your style of dressing is unique. Be frank, just figure out how to use it properly.

He who controls the spice, controls the universe.

The truth hurts. Most people cannot handle the plain, honest, frank, truth. However, be careful of your tone of voice when being 'frank'. It might be mistaken as arrogance or rude.

Some people only hear what they want to hear and anything that they don't want to hear will be rebelled against or shot down. Many people on here ask questions and then cannot take the fact that people give their opinion and not what the person asking the question wanted to hear (their own opinion). What's the point in asking the question then I ask??
