I had not heard of that but I am sure it is true. They would probably say that you are endangering your child's health. I know schools can stop an unvaccinated child from being enrolled in school but I had not heard that they were threatening arrest.
I do not have any children so I guess it is easy for me to say this but I believe there is a tie between the vaccines and autism so I do not think I would have my child vaccinated with anything that contains Thimerosol in it. By the way, it is not claimed that with the exception of some flu vaccines that none of the vaccinations for children now contain Thimerosol but I would have to further research that.

I think it's Maryland only.
It's due to the effectiveness of the anti-vaccine liars, who are very good at deceiving people.
Part of it is due to the long-discredited paper in The Lancet by Dr. Andrew Wakefield in 1998. He lost his medical license in its aftermath. Read up on Wakefield and you'll see how the entire anti-vaccine hysteria began.
I come from the first generation of children to receive the polio vaccine and remember kids in braces at school.
I agree with the law. Endangering your child's health is not an option.

yes i did, but it is for school, and children missing school because of it, this is NOT for the people who have gotten an exemption, because of health or religious beliefs, this is for people who do believe in vaccinations but have refused, to get them ignoring lots of letters from the school board, principle , health department and school nurse, they even offered free vaccines but the parents were to busy to go

I HAVE NOT HEARD THIS, BUT NOTHING SURPRISES ME ANYMORE. It seems as though the system/government.whoever is trying their d@mndest to take all of out parental rights and decision making rights away. In some religions parents do not vaccinate they children and they do not go to doctors. I do not agree with this, but who am I to judge and who is the government to mandate something that defies someone's religious beliefs. It's a d@mn shame. A kid can't even fall off their bike anymore and go to the Emergency room without a stupid report being done by a hospital social worker. It is just ridiculous. I know these laws are intended to protect and help chidren, however, in my opinion, it has been taken overboard.
Like I said, I have not heard this one, but i do not doubt it for a second. UGH....what are they going to do next? I am afraid to see......

It's not a new thing, years ago if you didn't vaccinate your child, social services would get involved, if you still didn't comply one or both parents would be arrested.

i saw that a couple of days ago on the news too....i think it is the parents' responsibility to ensure their child is taken care of, and around here you must have your children vaccinated all the way through from birth to age 5 to enrol into school....why would someone take a chance with their child's health is beyond me...i think if that is what the local government must do to those parents, then that is what they deserve

Yes and I believe that is in direct violation of our rights as parents, as well as our constitutional/religious rights as human beings and US citizens.
Granted it's only in Maryland... and this action is recieving so much negative press that I highly doubt it will continue.
And you silly people must not know that you CAN attend school without a single vaccination, they are 100% optional and provided as a "protective measure" if we so choose to use them. If you decide not to vaccinate your child you simply have to aquire and fill out a form stating your exemption (religious, medical or philosophical). The form is readily available at your Health Department, the same place that administers free vaccinations.

Yep I also heard it worked, at least for more than half of the lagging parents. They actually set up a clinic in the courthouse so the kids could get their polio/diphtheria etc shots right there and the parents could update the records.
Not a bad idea, you can't attend school without the vaccinations.
