I find that as I mature as a Christian the meanings and depths of understanding of scriptures evolve. A newly conceived Christian may interpret differently then a more experienced Christian does. That does not mean that either is wrong-just that they have different perceptions as is normal for all unique human beings. And persons "cheery picking" from the Scriptures to find fault with them is easier to detect by a mature Christian then a newly conceived Christian. These differences are exploited by those looking to discredit Christian in general. Finding favorite Bible quotes to "cherry pick" comes easier to mature experienced atheists too. How's that for atheist "penny candy"?

The Bible uses parables, which are subject to interpretation. Its not as bad as most athiests make it out to be... most of the Bible is actually rather clear, it is merely subject to whether you believe it to be literal or metaphorical.

The real problem is that people take phrases or sentences out of context, and as with anything, when you take away the context, the words can be manipulated to have other meanings.
