The main reason I think that I am an atheist is not because of evidence. It is due to the fact that I am a very pessimistic person. I always expect the worst to happen. No one wants to believe that there is nothing for them after death. However, expecting the worst as I always do, I expect there to be nothing after death. Unfortunately, in the real world, the worst is usually what happens. I look at it this way. If there is a God, GREAT. If there isn’t, at least I haven’t wasted my whole life trying to impress him.

That's self defeating logic.

If you're right, it won't matter that you've abandoned God but if you're wrong it will.

Be an Atheist because you *believe* what Atheism stands for - not just because you're preparing yourself for the worst. In actuality, the worst would be that you didn't live God's commandments and he exists.

That's why the only thing atheist share is not believing in any gods. I don't think the same way as you, and my main reason is simply no evidence, and that evidence presented is not evidence i.e. a tower that existed in Babylon until 600 BCE is not evidence of the tower of Babel.

Edit:
Life is a very wonderful thing, and while pessimism is useful when planning, it is not good for execution i.e. plan for the worst but live for the best.

As i atheist, i live my life in the here and now. Life after death is a total contradiction in terms. It is highly unlikely that there really is a "god" of the bible. So enjoy your life, spend your time doing what you love doing and being with the people you enjoy being with.

Life without an imaginary god is just fine :-)

All the best.

Atheists are under-represented (relative to Christians) in jails and prisons; and they are over-represented (relative to Christians) in science and higher education. Atheists have lower rates of divorce, teen pregnancy, and STDs than Christians.

Actually, most Atheists seem to be doing fine. You sound more like a lost Christian.

This proves a point I continually make....The only thing we Atheists have in common is.....we don't believe in God.

Why we don't believe is very individual.

I personally believe after we die our "energy" the thing that makes us who we are is released back out into the universe where I believe it came from.

I HATE being the one to quote, since yous guys usually look down on that stuff, not trying to convince you to change but just telling what the Bbook says.

ROMANS 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, and have been called according to his purpose.

i believe, as an atheist, you're taking a very negative view on life.

you should try to understand this world as best you can, you can see amazing things in everything around you.

get high, have wild crazy sex, get drunk, get a great job you love and create the things you want to create.

the world doesn't have to be submission to god and stupidity to the world around you...

live life to its fullest please

You know what? I AM winding down to the end of 'my' road. And the thought of oblivion, is preferable to the thought of eternity on my knees.
The thought certainly brings me more peace of mind. Do you know how long eternity is? How about infinity?
No thanks.
The end?>>>>>that's it.

Oh if you were really pessimistic, you would think that tyrant the Christians follow was real.
