No. I'd rather hear someone singing than a whining, gossiping, disgruntled worker going on and on about his or her bad day.

YES!! A friend of mine used to do that when we first started working together. I'd been working the front desk and the switchboard at a doctors' office for about a year. When she started working there as a "floater" (basically a fill-in for someone when they're out), we had to train her at the front desk. We had a radio up there and, even when patients were checking in, she'd start singing right along with it. Not very quietly, either. She has a tendency to be pretty loud and when someone finally complained about it (I didn't have the heart to), she acted surprised! I honestly don't think some people were born with that humilty gene.

If you go around judging people based on perception and projecting a motive onto that person for why they are singing, you're only creating a barrier between you and truth.

Well thank God I do not have problem at work, my office is in a cockpit of jet liner, I'm a Captain. But it does not bother me if I'm in public, and someone is singing, it just means that they are happy. I like whistle sometimes in public.

oh yes that is annoying I dont care if it was Frank Sinatra - I would very quickly want them to shut up.
Nice voice or no its noise pollution! A quick hum is fine but if I start hearing the whole of the musical west side story or all of britney spears back catalogues I would crack up.
Whistling by women is also a no no.

Nobody should sing in public whether they have a good voice or not. It's offensive and irritating. Just like whistling.

It annoys the heck out of me, even if they're fairly good singers. We've had a few of these at work and it seems they're just showing off and trying to get attention.

It does not bother my in public, however in certain settings like: movies (cinemas), offices, or gyms, it is annoying and they should have some respect and keep themselves in check.

If they have a good voice and are not too loud it does not bother me. If they cant carry a tune it is very irritating.
