It is "I" that is our self ..the sin in us.
when we are selfish, we are loving ourselves... sIn is in us.
but when we let Jesus bend the I, we flex to be a sOn.!!!! it is sin that stands between us.

One is the ego and the other one is the past sinful karma.

Ego is actually a deteriorated intellect - one who does not understand much of the secrets of spirituality, but believes that he knows because he has discovered and reached certain concluzions. It is an intellect that searches and makes noise instead of being peaceful and still to receive and observe deeper aspects of truth. Such an intellect makes us perform wrong actions in the present.

Then these wrong actions become the past sinful karma that we will have to clear up.

Unless and untill we are clear we cannot keep God's company.

There are ofcourse the mistakes our intellect made us perform for many birhts - and that is a sinful karma from the further past that comes now and asks for clearence before we take our right to be with God.

We are ALL giving opinions as though WE all really know the answer....we can only assume/guess/theorise...according to our limited intellect...however, my personal opinion is that there is nothing standing between MY concept of LORD and us(our inner self?)we are all too busy looking outwards!?

Nothing except our negligence. Sorry to prolong it but there comes a small story.
Once a man asks GOD "You said either it may be sorrow or joy O human I will be with you. But when I (man) saw the way of my life there were two pair foot prints at the time of joy and a single pair when there was sorrow in my life. You left me alone in my grief". GOD replies to him " I never say the false. I was with u at the time of joy in your life though u forget me to take me with u. But in the period of grief the only pair of footprints were mine and not yours. I didn't LEFT u alone but I LIFT u in my arms so the hard and harsh way of sorrow doesn't touch thy feet" Nothing is between us and the Lord, the only thing is ignorance and negligence. He is always with us, in us
