It should but used right but never will it be - it helps greatly when suicidal, it can change thoughts of suicide within three min. or so I found not, much is needed but if a person uses it regularly then depression may arise just from the use of it but now they are finding or saying that long term use can cause phycotic behavior. So hard one to answer but we'll never have to worry b/c the government won't let it be available for the good things that it does and can do.

"Can" marijuana be legalized for depression? Well, it CAN be, but don't look for it to be.

"Should" marijuana be legalized for depression? Absolutely not!

First, maijuana shouldn't be legalized at all. The last thing this country needs is another way for people to not deal with reality.

Second, marijuana is a 'depressant,' so legalizing it for the treatment of depression would be self-defeating. It would be the same as prescribing amphetamines for a manic person. It's been proven that while many people attempt to 'treat' their depression with alcohol consumption, it actually only makes the depression worse. Marijuana would be much the same as alcohol in this case.

Personally I would say not. I have known people who used it as an anti-depressant and they insist it works but in my opinion they are wrong. I can only speak about the people I have seen and I am sure other people had had different experiences but all of the people I have known who have used it for depression, I have seen the negative effect it has had on them. I saw it very up close with my ex fiance. The whole time we were together he insisted that it helped him and I watched his depression, paranoia and anxiety get worse and worse. The only time I saw any improvement at all was during the six months he gave it up to prove to me that he could. Even he admitted that he felt better when he wasn't smoking it, but in the end he went back to it. I did use it for a while whenever I had PMT but after a while I realized that my cutting etc got worse when I did that, even though I seemed to be feeling better so I stopped. So I am against it being legalized for depression, but even if I thought it was a good idea I don't see it ever happening.

In my opinion,
the legalization of marijuana should be limited to conditions not treatable by other, more common means.

NO.

It is a depressant and although most happy people are OK with it (occasionally), there is an increased incidence of schizophrenia and other mental health problems.
