I would check completed sales on eBay to find out how much a flash is selling for.

Is it okay getting an old flash? Depends upon how it's been used/treated. Some flashes don't get used a whole lot. Others have been used very heavily, so the flash tube may be ready to die. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell how good the internal electronics and flash tube are by looking at the exterior.

Buy the top of the line flash that Pentax offers for your camera. In all my years I have learned its better to have a feature and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Buy an off-camera flash bracket.

Buying an older flash that is not 100% compatible with your camera is a waste of money - and could damage your camera.
