I don't think it will take much time before you start getting replies with links to other "proper" graphs.
The problem with your data, is that it's raw data. It needs to be properly crunched and massaged by a proper climate scientist to get a proper hockey stick.
Only then will your data be accurate.
No one should see raw data. This is why climatologist keep all raw data on their computer in a file folder labeled "censored".

Well, I live in Minnesota and our winters are noticabley warmer...we used to get heavy snow in the October months...BUT within the last 5-6 years we don't get a major snowfall until the week before or the week OF Christmas...that's a major difference to me...
Right now, there is no snow on the ground...it falls very, very lightly, but melts right away...
Also we don't experience as many days with temperatures less than twenty degrees below zero, which also used to be normal...
Besides, they say that about every hundred years the weather does get all goofy anyways, so who really knows...

It is sad to see so many otherwise rational people deny global warming. Even the Bush administration has changed their views.
People, this very serious. Even if you personally buy into the propaganda and weak science that the oil companies are paying some "scientists" to publish, think of what can happen if you're wrong.
I personally really do hope that they are all wrong.
But what if they are right?
Are you prepared to pay the price?
The book "State of Fear" has all these references to studies that were paid for and backed the large oil lobby. Even the oil companies are backing away from those early studies (the book was published 3 years ago and used footnotes of scientific papers written as far back as 1969)
I will side with the world's scientific community rather than rabble rousers such as Limbaugh that prey upon the ignorance of the masses.
So, to answer your question, the panic is about rising sea levels, crop failures, starvation, species extinction, drought, and an entire litany of catastrophic events that will directly impact the earth as we know it.
Of course, we could just stick our heads into the sand and pretend it isn't happening!

Global warming, not US warming. You're simply looking at the wrong data, which only covers the US. Here's the right (global) stuff, from the same source you used:

your graph should go back another 300 or 400 years then you will see the evidence more clearly...
population levels (a major part of global warming causes) have soared since 1900 so all info AFTER that date is so closely linked its small scale compared to the big picture...
AND if you dont beleive in global warming - are you saying its ok to keep polluting the air and the sky?? hmm I think I will make that its own new question...

It is sad to see so many people propagandized by UN funded agenda driven science.
Research and grants are provided to scientists that support the agenda and denied to those that don't.
Junk science-when you start with a conclusion and find facts to support it. "believers" think scientists that disagree are working for big oil and ones that agree don't have an agenda. Yeah right.
The best scientists still can't predict the weather 3 weeks from now but the indoctrinated believers think they can predict global weather years from now.
Science is not infallible-especially when funded by agenda driven folks like the UN.

the effect is in my back-yard in oz .
when we bbuilt dams here it was on the auspices that rain would fill them .
sadly the dams were built inland aways from the coast with idea the great divide would generate enough systems for the rain to tumble into these dams --- but it hasn't happened because the rain depressions are not strong enough to penetrate further than the coastline --- we are in a dillema !

Mary, you are not supposed to bring any evidence to this debate. Don't you realize how much it upsets Al Gore and all his true believers when they are confronted with the truth? Just nod your head and agree with them when they start to rant. Or they will have seizures.
As an intelligent person who is interested in knowing the truth you might consider reading "State Of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It is a fictional account of an environmental group fighting against global warming. It is full of hard data and references that show global warming is a hoax. But don't tell the Gore crowd about it, they would try to have it banned.
