if he knew that eve would eat the apple of good and bad that would bring evil to the world then he is just as bad as satan to make us pick up the pieces in this world.

The tree from which Adam & Eve took and ate the fruit was the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil", not the "tree of good and evil".

It's kinda like mom setting limits, knowing the kid will test them. I think she gets a perverse satisfaction out of swatting her progeny on the keister.

edit and addendum:
The above answer was a quick, flip attempt at sleepy humor. Oh, well. They can't all be gems. =)

Here is a more thoughtful answer:
Maybe the big guy liked the idea of free will! Could critical thinking and responsibile choices exist, if the fruit(!) had not been offered?

The concept of life without decisions or choices makes me shudder. Some images that this conjures up:

A serene herd of bleating sheep;
A goose-stepping parade of pretty blue-eyed blonde men;
A wild-eyed community of compliant Kool-Ade drinkers...

Think about it.

if I believed that god existed I'd have to come to the conclusion that god was an evil, controling son of a ***** that liked to play mind games. But then I'm an atheist so I don't have to worry about that. And as for the lady hooray or whatever yer name is if god's so merciful why has he killed so many in the bible. Explain that contradition please

GOD, though can read our minds and that He knows the unknown........
..... but the basic thing is that HE expects HIS creation to listen to him and abide by HIS laws cos dont forget HE has even gifted us with Recreationary Power!! and we our expected to use it wisely cos, satan will always create such nasty thoughts in your good brain but you are to tell him
"SHUT-UP"
and please try to understand HE is not bad, HE is the most merciful , kind and loving towards HIS creation and remember
"the God who has given us everything knows everything..even the good and bad
so please use your mind in something better

I agree..... if he made all the Garden plants and put them there, he could just as easily have LEFT OUT the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life if he didn't want mankind to mess with them.... but leaving them there, that makes HIM the first Temptor,not the serpent...................

So in your world, God is "just as bad as Satan"?!?

That's a hell of an attitude!

The problem is not understanding the parable. A story is not be taken literally, the moral behind the story is to be understood.
