If you were wrong, and you weren't going to an afterlife where you get to be all perfect etc, would that be your worst fear?

If that was the case, why would you ever give up your faith? Even if you suspected that you were wrong, you would deny it, right?

Can't you just blame the 'devil' when in doubt?

For the sake of Steve B and any others, I use the term 'religionist' so as not to single out Christians, Muslims, Jews etc.

I mean someone strongly religious.

Religionist:

Pronunciation:
\-ˈli-jə-nist, -ˈlij-nist\
Function:
noun
Date:
1653

1: a person adhering to a religion

(Merriam Webster Dictionary)

I would hope that it would be. I mean, the religionists are the ones claiming that you're going to burn in Hell if you don't pick the right religion.

"What am I supposed to be afraid of? I don't get that part. If I'm wrong then I've had a great life."

She's asking you whether you're afraid that you've picked the WRONG religion, not whether you're afraid of dying. Based on what most religious people tell the rest of the world, if you don't choose the right way to worship God and live a good life, you will be damned eternally. She wants to know if that is what you're afraid of.

Religionist are the great sales people.
There is a saying in Hong Kong that Jesus has more saliva than tea, he just keeps going and going and going.
Belief in helping others for FREE is the only religion.
Don't tell people if you don't belief in god, you will go to hell.
What kind of people would say should a thing? Religionist

A munk in my country is so rich that he has a Benz S-Class, a female driver (mistress), and a million dollar home donated to him by a friend. LOL

I think there is more of a chance that we have aliens from another planet than "GOD".

I'm a polytheist and not afraid of being wrong. In fact, I know darn well that I could be wrong, but in the absence of hard proof one way or another, I think it's reasonable go with my religious experiences on this issue.

Sure, I'd give up my faith if something convinced me I was wrong. I did that once before when I left Christianity, after all.

I HAVE seen Christians blame "the devil" whenever they are in doubt. It is the biggest mindf*** around and it prevents them from seeking after real answers to their questions.

Since I know God exists, it's a bit difficult for me to pretend that He's not but I'll give it a try.

If I died and there is no afterlife, then I would have lived a life full of joy and peace, a life where I (hopefully) helped some people to better themselves, where I've helped to educate and raise two little girls who will be good citizens and wonderful people.

What am I supposed to be afraid of? I don't get that part. If I'm wrong then I've had a great life.

No. If I had any doubts then I wouldn't be a "religionist", would I?

My answer is still the same, as to your details. If I have faith and hope, and grace, I fear no evil, no person, not anything.

And, if the day comes that I believe I am wrong, then I will change my beliefs, but that ain't going to happen.

I always thought "religionist" was a made-up word like "evolutionist." I guess I was wrong.

Anyway, I don't know what their greatest fears are, but being wrong about God seems like a significant one.

That is the Major hook of religion, and even in the face of overwhelming evidence people of faith refuse to see reason because of that fear.

Religionist? I like it.

My boyfriends a psychologist. He studies religion like a psychological disorder. He says its a reaction to "AAAAAHHHH!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO NON-EXIST!!!" (Die, basically. Going to Heaven is not dying).

Na...its not.\. Acid has shown me truth. Reality is so far off from that of any science or religion.....what scares me most is that most people will never glimpse truth during their life

it's the people that don't believe that should fear being wrong because if you do believe and are wrong you have lost nothing but if you don't believe and are wrong think of what it has cost you
