We are human. God made us human. He didn't make perfect beings. He gave us free will. The idea of being a Christian is not to be so legalistic in our views and think that we have to do everything perfectly. The idea is to build a relationwhip with God(talking to Him, reading about Him, etc). In doing that, we will get closer to Him and will be able to hear Him and take His guidance. Once you reach a certain place in your relationship with God, you don't really have to make decisisions anymore, you let God make them. And you don't fret so much over your mistakes b/c you KNOW that God loves you and will forgive you IF your heart is right.

God unconditionally accepts us "as we are" but also calls us all to a life of holiness. Yes, we will make mistakes and fall back in to old sinful patterns - that is certain. But we are also promised that if we call on God for forgiveness, forgiveness will be given.
I don't consider myself better than anyone else - we are all sinners here.

I don't know how to answer. A heart set on God is a wise heart. A heart set on heaven and loving God will go to heaven because you have received his real gift of salvaton. Choosing life is a wise choice.........but using the words "better than someone" makes me uncomfortable. I think wise choices is the key here.

God always accepts us because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross not by by anything we have done ourselves. God sees us only in Christ Jesus, crucified in Him and dead to sin (Romans 6:6,2). We are righteous in Christ not in ourselves as Jesus paid the price for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). When we sin we sin in our flesh not having died to our flesh and falling out of being in Christ and out of being in God's presence in Christ. God desires that we walk in the Spirit, or in other words in Christ, and not in our flesh then we will not sin. The point is that we are only pure and holy in Christ and it is good that we stay in Christ and have the abundance of grace and the gift of God's righteousness to reign in life (Romans 5:17). Christians are better than non-believers only because of their position in Christ and as Jesus is so are they in the world (1 John 4:17).
