I think my question was miscontsrued last time I posted it so I am reposting this question. All those of you who thought ISLAM permits "wife beating",

APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME ARTICLE BY SOME IMAM ON YOU TUBE. I , AS A MUSLIM ON BEHALF OF MY FELLOW MUSLIMS AND ISLAM OPENLY CONDEMN THAT BOOK AND THE AUTHOR, IF WHAT IT OFFERS IS ANY DIFFERENT FROM THE CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE POSTED.

It's not as if ISLAM has a confused vocabulary, it's just that after PROPHET(P.B.U.H) LEFT people with vested interest got an opportunity to create misunderstandings. That is why in the article I have quoted what the PROPHET(P.B.U.H) has said on the issue. Hence a true muslim is ONLY the one who is following the PROPHET(P.B.U.H) and anyone defying HIS(P.B.U.H) way is NOT A MUSLIM. PERIOD.

Many wives are disobedient and they really misbehave with their husbands. Now these wives need to be taught well. Husband should tell her wife what is acceptable by him, what is right and what is wrong. He should even give her 3 chances so that she can get hold of her disobedience, but even after that if she continues to be disobedient and doesn't fulfill husband's desires, his wants or whatever and fails to do what a Mominah shall do for her husband, then husband can, the Word BEAT is not appropriate here but should give her a lite hit on her back as to pull her on the right track.
Whatever is mentioned in the Article, I found it fine, and that is a translation of Surah Nisa.

BEATING WIFE sounds so wild and it seems as if Muslims are like that, criminals... but there is a logic behind it. there is a limit to that hitting as well. why do you beat your child if he goes wrong somewhere? that is because you want to teach him, and want him to be on the right track. this was just a lame example but its factual.

Beating up your wives like animals is strictly prohibited and not allowed in Islam. Many men acts like wild animals which is absolutely wrong.

May Allah guide us all to be on the right track and may Allah also guide husbands and wives to respect eachother and be obedient to eachother.

Yet it happens under the guise of Islam all the time. Yes women in non Islamic countries get beaten as well but their submissision isnt dictated by religion. Whether Islam itself allows this or whether it is the twisted freaks that practice the religion that decided to make this a reality really doesnt matter because it does happen and it is done in the NAME of Islam. Instead of denying that millions to infact believe they are entitled to beat their wives, why not try to change their way of thinking?

Truthfully yes. Only because of what I learn from the media and someone e-mailed me a link showing me a teenage girl was getting stoned to death because she was seen with a Muslim boy. It was done on the street in public. It was so horrific and inhuman. I don't know if it was Muslim's or another Middle East group. I don't know much about your culture and am willing to learn to understand the truth. Never to judge without knowing the true facts. The Muslims in America are not anything like that. They are very well respectable people. I trust them in America. They also in return give me respect. I hope wife beating is the truth NOT your CUSTOM.

It's a problem which even the so called civilised world is facing. Religion doesn't come in the way.

"According to India's most comprehensive National Family Health survey-III, which interviewed 1.25 lakh [million] women in 28 states and the national capital during 2005-06, 41 %of women justified WIFE -BEATING if it was because they showed disrespect towards their in-laws while 35 % women were OK with being brutally assaulted by their husbands if they neglected household chores or their children.

Not surprisingly then, 51% of the 75000 men interviewed didn't find anything wrong with assaulting their wives..."

About 63% of these incidents were in the urbun families.

41% of Buddhist women reported highest level of violence


It's a worldwide problem and the west is facing even more domestic violence where women are considered more aware.


This problem needs to be addressed by educating men and it does'nt relate to a religion.

Beating is not compulsary!
Beating and divorce are the two options for adulterers.

Islam is a practical religion and enforce such laws which bring immediate results to eliminate social evils from the society.

Remember to look at Islam as a whole and not to focus on just one verse or hadith without seeing others related to the subject. Also, don’t judge Islam by what you see Muslims do, but by what the Qur’an and sunnah say they should do. May Allah guide you and us all to the truth!

The problem with comparisons in marital conduct, between Christianity and Islam has its roots in the ORIGINS of the religions.

Whilst both religions might be classed as offshoots of Judaism, the three religions have their origins in differing POLITICAL needs.

Judaism was founded as a UNIFYING political tool for the disparate Habra (Hebrew) Tribes.

Christianity, as we all know, was originally a splinter cult of Judaism. The Roman Empire, facing a catastrophic break-up, looked for a UNIFYING political tool and that tool was decided to be Christianity.

The Prophet faced a similar problem with the Arab Tribes in and around the Red Sea Rift and the Arabian Peninsula. Islam was designed to be the UNIFYING political tool for the "Arab Nation".

The basis of law for all three religions, have their roots in the Tora, or Old Testament. However, the Romans needed considerable amendments in that law, to satisfy the already established Roman Legal system.

Mohammed faced a different problem. The tribes, who he was attempting to unify all had their own legal systems and hierarchies. Shariah therefore reflects the essentials of the commonalities of Tribal Law.

Bearing in mind that Nomadic Tribes have specific issues with internal discipline, as well as inter-tribal tensions, there was a moral, legal and health problem with unregulated sexual liaisons. They did not have the benefits of DNA analysis in those days!............ so there are very ancient remedies included in the Shariah.

It has to be admitted that, in older times, these remedies also existed in Christian Society............. and they were embodied in BRITISH Law until as late as the 1970's!

If one considers that Religions have a well-defined life cycle, then Islam has some 600 years to catch up on Christianity (300, if you accept that Christianity did not ACTUALLY become a "catholic" religion until the 4th century AD).

Whilst Islam is swiftly maturing, it would be unrealistic to assume that the majority of Islamic society, which is still the relatively survival-based communities of the Near and Middle East, will leave behind the legal systems, which have served them for millenia!

Likewise, WHY should they want to adopt an essentially alien legal system, based on an alien empire?

This is the dichotomy facing our Islamic immigrant population in the UK.

In management , when we make a new rule or make a new product we are asked to see if the new product or rule can have ill-effect's ,, or misused.. it's like Gussing the risk's even before the rule or product is Out"

ALLAH is ALL knowing and he can defenetly see or easly can gues the risk's of his rule's ,, he can easly guess the ill effect ,his Rule or suggestion may have.......
he will never allow his word's to be confused . he will not write or use word's or letter which have billion diffrent meaning's.... coz it can lead to diffrent misintrepetion's and socity will be at lose.........

COZ they are ALLAH's word's and people will take them seriously so he will not write his rule's in a language which has 10 diffrent meaning's for one word.. because it wil lead to diffrent intrepetaion's and agin socity are at lost....
not everyone is an expert of his or her langusge to know all the 10 diffrent meaning of a word and then decide which is correct....... look at ur own intrepetion of the word, u took it as beat or hit... but few are saying its like " strike" protesting..........

According to Hindu's ,, Everything in this Universe has God in it i,e living and non-living thing ,, so they are asked to respect and love everything as they respect God......

Yes i dont think but i have read it with both my eyes open. What is the use of being in denial, it suits you good for you. The whole of Islamic cultures practice this and justify this, religions built along rules as and how it suited the individual, please do not make attempts to change people's views, you will feel good about his if you preach this to illiterates so they dont go back and refer but will accept your teachings with open mouths.
No one here will be influenced and perhaps this will upset you, for a change it may do good to find out why people dont agree.
