I think everyone is going to have around the same thing here.

1. Enjoyment
2. Exercise (good for health, stress, etc)
3. Confidence, the ability to push past what you would have never thought you would be able to do.
4. Discipline: Not just listening to a Sensei but sticking to an exercise regime, or sticking to something period. Learning to humble yourself is also included in that.
5. Self defense to a degree, some proficiency in unarmed combat.
6. Social Interaction, being a part of something and the rewards that come with it.

Well that is just a quick and dirty 6 from my stand point.
5.

1) No that is actually the best age to start. Most people I know, including myself, started right around that age or older to become serious martial artists. Any younger and the kid lacks motivation and drive. 2) Finding a good dojo/dojang lies solely on you. Not everyone around knows what is in Orlando, and it's difficult to tell from a website what's a good school and what isn't. You have to go exploring to find what you really like. Look more for adult classes though, as children's classes are usually belt factories/ McDojos. 3) Just some crunches, push ups, and running. Don't overdo it though. 4) I don't have enough information to answer that. Good Ol' Sweeney is feeding you some ridiculous crap there. Jujitsu, as in real jujitsu, teaches standing grappling primarily. Also, training in a sport environment never translates well into the street.

It will build your confidence.
You will be able to protect your family, friends, and yourself more effectively.
It should be fun but difficult at the same time (you will feel like you're accomplishing something as you advance).
It will improve your overall fitness.
It will require discipline that you can apply to other endeavors in your life (and it will keep you busy and out of trouble!)
Your fellow martial artists will become your good friends, even like an extended family to you.
There are countless other reasons, some are nearly universal for everyone and some are applicable on a person to person basis. As long as you keep your ego in check there will be great personal rewards for pursuing almost any martial art.
Good luck and I hope you continue in the arts!

1. Happiness, stemming from enjoyment and increased confidence.
2. Anger management. You learn to direct your anger into the Art.
3. Self defence.
4. Fitness.
5. Speed or strength, depending on the martial art you choose (for example, karate is more strength; tae kwon do is more speed).
6. Respect. You are required to respect the black belt, and this would tend to transfer to the rest of your social interactions.

1. Self-improvement.
2. The ability to defend oneself when trained properly.
3. Increased focus.
4. Increased ability (I wouldn't say fitness necessarily, because some styles don't get too in depth with it)
5. Increase awareness.
6. Because they're F******** fun! LOL! :D
