If so,where does it say that? And if that is the case why do christians quite often use the term "I rebuke you satan in the name of Jesus"?Surely they are not sure which"demon" they are talking to and are ignorant if they think its satan himself they are dealing with.

It's from the book of Job. Satan travels to and fro about the earth. He is a created being and not omnipresent like God.
The other stuff is because some Christians attribute a lot of their own problems to Satan.

The authority on this is the Bible.

The word satan just comes from two words:
1. Hebrew (in the Old Testament) meaning - adversary, one who withstands someone (person or national).

2. Greek/ from Aramaic origin (in New Testament) meaning adversary (one who opposes someone).

Demons are different, they are used about people who had diseases in the first century AD. Problems like being blind, dumb, lame, epilepsy or similar. Genetics had not been discovered.
Because people could not understand they were perhaps a little superstitious about these problems. Jesus just used the current understanding but showed that for God, his Father, there is just no problem, illnesses can be healed instantly.

If Satan is a demon as we are lead to believe, then he can only be in one place at a time. This being established, many christians must be in for a shock on judgement day. They blame Satan for all sorts of things that he couldn`t possibly done, as he was doing it to someone else at the time. So they have lied about him. To bare false witness is a sin, by their own book of rule...!!

Wow, this is actually an interesting question and one I haven't seen before.

That depends on whether or not you believe that Satan is corporeal or not. The Bible gives us two locations for Satan - the first is his role as the accuser, he stands before the Throne of God accusing you of evil. The second is that of a roaring, toothless lion, who walks to and fro on the Earth seeking whom he may devour.

Personally I believe in the non-corporeal interpretation, but it's not a core matter of faith.

Spiritual entities such as God or satan are not governed by the laws of physics. As such being able to be with everyone should not come as a surprise. I am afraid I cannot remember reading that God is everywhere though I can remember being told. That said I havn't read the whole Bible maybe someone else knows the reference.

i have no ideal but satan has the same power as any other angel of his rank. most likely satan sits on his fanny and gets his demons to do all the dirty work

here is a page on demons taken from the bible

Satan can be in many places at the same time. He also uses many of his followers to do his work throughout the world.

You are correct only GOD is Omnipresent.
However, the vast army of demons{those angels who rebeled in Heaven} have placed themselves under their rebel leader satan and as such follow his instructions.
Therefore christians are correct in their approach in this matter.
