Would she be lifted and taken straight back to her real parents immediately to satisfy them, or would she be given time to come to terms with whats happened.

I for one hope that she is alive and is living with a caring family, despite how she got there. I would think that what happens if she were found would depend on how long a time had passed, if it is within the next couple of years then I would suspect they would just lift her out of there but if it takes 10 or more years then she may be given time to get use to the idea, personally I would lift her out in either situation as you never know they may run with her again.

I don't think this is likely to happen sadly as it never happened for Ben who was taken from his pram outside the family villa, he will be in his late teens to early twenties by now(can't remember the year he was taken).

Still we live in hope.

its all and well to say, the parents did it, or this happened or that happened, but the fact is that the only person who knows what happened is Madeline, I truly hope she is still alive and is returned to her parents ASAP. Remember the "the dingos got my baby !" case in Australia. I, myself thought the mother was guilty, she went to jail for years, only to find out she was innocent and the dingo did take the child. None of us can say what really happened, so there is no point in arguing and thumb downing others viewpoints, nor blaming the parents. The truth will come out one day I just hope it is sooner rather than later.

It is not any kind of a reasonable question at all.
IF she were found alive.. she would be the victim of a kidnapping, not as someone says a "adoptive" family. You don't let a kidnapped child remain with the kidnappers, to give her time to "adjust". Of course, she would need psychiatric treatment. It is not like a custody dispute, where the parents are being selfish to want their child back.
All that is based on the "IF" she were to be found alive. Elizabeth Smart was found after being captive for nine months, and there are known cases of even longer captivities. There are cases of parents killing children. Which is this? No one knows for sure, except the parents.
There is no such thing as "healthy and well" for a kidnapping victim. Physically well, perhaps.. psychologically, impossible.

edit-
The Stockholm syndrome is a explanation concerning certain hostages/ kidnap victims, who (for various reasons) come to identify with the persons holding them. It is thought to derive from a survival defense, as well as efforts by the captor(s) to brainwash the victim into thinking that if they cooperate, they will be better treated.
The hypothetical question is "what if she is with another family"? Perhaps she has been "well treated", made friends, speaks another language, or . NOTHING in that, would alter the original circumstances of being taken by force, from parents with the absolute right to custody. All of which (of course) is not debating if there was a kidnapping, or the parents or someone else killed her. That is another debate.
I stand by my comments. A child who is kidnapped MUST be returned to the parents.

It is something I had wondered about.
What if this happened in say 5 years' time?
She wouldn't remember much about her natural family and would have settled with her "adoptive" family, and would probably be fluent in Arabic (assuming she's in Morocco, as that's where the supposed sightings have been). Would she even speak any English?
Taking all that into consideration, how would she feel to be removed from this life and returned to her family.....

EDIT - Wendy C I used the term "adoptive" (and put in inverted commas) because one theory is that Madeleine was kidnapped to order, and she may be with a family who wanted a child like her, and now treat her as their adopted daughter. I wasn't for one minute suggesting that she hadn't been kidnapped.

IF she is alive and what not she would be given back to her parents and possibly the other family would be in trouble for keeping the child when she has been all over the news as being missing.
big 'if' though..

If Madeleine is still alive she knows what is happening to her because she's a human being who knows who her parents are.

I think she would be reintroduced to her family slowly over a few weeks as she would have experienced trauma not necessary abuse but just the separation anxiety.
