I recently bought some winter tyres for my car. I paid the deposit and left. He argued that I should let him pay for it, it was $1100 for the set of 4. I told him no, as I make more money than he does...but being a father he kept on insisting. Finally I go to pick it up, I ask a friend to come with me, because if I asked my dad he would just pay for the types. I go to Costco and take out my visa to pay for it...they said, oh no we don't take Visa, on AMEX....

Well my dad is the only one I know who has AMEX, so I had to call him to come pay for it. He came and paid for it, but now he's refusing to let me pay him back....

It's great that he wants to help me out...but I don't like taking ANY money from my parents. How can I pay him back?

Get him a gift of the equivalent value, something that you know he'd love. If it's a gift he can't refuse it.

Hmmm seriously u can't repay ur parents ever in the lifetime, simply coz they have taken care of u over the years till u start to earn and make a life of ur own. Had u not been supported by ur parents u'd end up being a loser of some bad wud eventuallt happen. If u c the kids with no parents they suffer the loss of love, support, better upbringing, etc etc. So u cannot repay ur parents. Being a father he did pay the money when u needed but it's not for a good father to take back wat he has given to his son voluntarily. Irrespective of u being welloff and earn much more then he does it's his desire to do more for u which prompts him to do such gestures. Accept it and as and when u think u can gift ur parents go out and buy some goodies for them. It's the only way u can repay something. Giving them occassional gifts will keep them happy and u happy in return.

Never measure things in money and how much u have to repay and take back from ur parents. If i know something about ur dad today then i c him as a caring and loving father.

Buy him a good watch, gloves, clothes, golf accessories if he indulges in playing golf, a fishing rod or anything for taht matter which he wud use and which he needs.
Celebrate fathers and mothers day along with their birthdays thats the only good gift u can give but u can't repay them. U can just repay them with ur love and respect.

Oh btw u were going to gift ur dad ur Acura :D lol whenever u r that is :) take care ;-)

I'm making good profit with penny stock. Check here http://trade-pennystock.checkhere.info

Many new investors are lured to the appeal of a penny stock due to the low price and potential for rapid growth which may be as high as several hundred percent in a few days. Similarly, severe loss can occur and many penny stocks lose all of their value in the long term. Accordingly, the SEC warns that penny stocks are high risk investments and new investors should be aware of the risks involved but you can even make very big money. These risks include limited liquidity, lack of financial reporting, and fraud. A penny stock is a common stock that trades for less than $5 a share. While penny stocks generally are quoted over-the-counter, such as on the OTC Bulletin Board or in the Pink Sheets, they may also trade on securities exchanges, including foreign securities exchanges. In addition, penny stocks include the securities of certain private companies with no active trading market. Although a penny stock is said to be "thinly traded," share volumes traded daily can be in the hundreds of millions for a sub-penny stock. Legitimate information on penny stock companies can be difficult to find and a stock can be easily manipulated.

You can't pay him back for the tyres. As a father he has greater pride than you. You have to gracefully accepts it and thank you over a dinner.
When the time comes for his birthday or anniversary, or after you get your increment, promotion or bonus, give him a bigger share. You may want to give your parent a surprise fully paid trip too. In that way, you save his pride and dignity. All things will go well in the end too.

Aww what a nice father, I know how that is, my parents are the exact way.

write a check and present it to him and insist that he takes it, if he doesn't want it then give him the satisfaction of providing for his child and take him out to a nice dinner sometime. Don't say "oh, at least let me take you out," just plan it out for some day and don't even mention the tires.

quality time is worth a lot more than money.

Can you find out his Amex card number?...then ask Amex to pay the money into the card for you.

Maybe pay half the money onto the card and tell him you did that, and then thank him for paying the other half. He obviously cares about you so let him help a bit - its his way of saying he cares about you :-)

My mum does this to me all the time...she says she does it because while she is still working she wants to be able to help..I am a pretty independent person & tend to like being able to support myself & not have to owe people money..but I figure that I am her only child & she does it because she loves me...& at the end of the day I love that.
How can you pay him back?? Tell him you love him-it would probably mean the world to him. At the end of the day, when my mum is too old to look after herself, I will take great comfort in looking after her to the best of my ability..that will be my way of her paying her back.

If you feel you want to pay him back. mail the money back with out saying who it's from. He'll probably know it's you but has no proof. Another thing is to go visit his home and when he's not looking place the money some where in his home.

try a different way around the situation dont let him know u want to play him back yet.

anyway this could be for a number of reason why he wont expect your money, just let your dad know that if he is ever in the need for help you will be there for him to.

that really all i can say. hope it help
