Yes, there is a genetic test to see if someone has the gene for breast cancer. The test is for the genes BRAC1 and BRAC2. As for the age, a number of women that go get the testing for this are in their 30s. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say. My mom wants me to get tested for the gene (she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year) but after reading what someone else said about how it can make you worry more than is necessary if you test positive I decided not to do it, not til I get my doctor's opinion on the subject.

Well it's actually proven that there is a genetic link for breast cancer. If you know that someone in your family or several people have had it, check yourself by using a self exam, and go to a doctor every 6 months for a test. There's no test that can be done to predict whether or not you'll get it just because someone else in your family has though. Like - my grandmother, cousin, and sister have had it - but my aunts, mother and I have not - just keep your eye on your body. GET CHECKED OUT OFTEN.

Yes, they can test for 2 genetic markers. Many women who get breast cancer, however, do not have these genes. I think they can do a blood test at any age.

if you have health insurance i would call them up and ask this question. you might be able to get a free test at any age becouse of your family history. that is how i got my free mamagram. and yes, having a mamagram hurts. the more breast you have the more you feel like your meat is being tenderized by the machine. they took like 8 x rays and i felt tired and sick from the radiation that day. so check with the insurance agancy and your doc. my doc knows how to play the insurance game very well.

Yes for breast & ovarian cancer. Re: what age, I'd guess anytime though I'd check with a MD who can give you the blood test.

Good Luck.
