Last year when I used to work, I worked very long hours in a retail store. School took a lot of my time too with classes and homework.

Basically, when I wasn't in school, I was working. When I wasn't working, I was in school. The small times in between, I was doing homework, studying, and sleeping.

School is really hard for me, and working is not something I enjoy either.

Yet people I know - who go to the same college as I and worked at the same job, sometimes with twice as many hours, manage to go out drinking and have a social life.

How do people do this? I tried, and all it did was make me start slacking on homework, etcetera.

When I got home from work, and assuming I was all caught up with school, the *last* thing I felt like doing was leaving the house *again* to go party. I just wanted to veg and watch TV, play computer games, or sleep.

As a result, I didn't get out much.

Like, I'd really like some insight?

I worked weekends, and school during the week. Yeah, I got my two days off per week, but it was very rarely tw days in a row, and hardly ever on a weekend.

Correction: I went to school M-F, worked afternoons after class, well into the night (10 pm). And I worked Saturday and Sunday almost always.

They neglect their school work, it is that simple.

Maybe their standards are not as high as yours, or their classes do not involve as much home work etc as yours, but that's just it. They do less work for school so they can spend time partying.

I think schools place way too much pressure and give people workloads that are much too big. People are forced to cut back so that they can simply be a human being and socialise.

When I was at UC Santa Cruz, I worked more hours than was legal while going to school full-time and simultaneously doing a work-study program and still had time to party and date. I slept an average of 3-4 hours per night for 4 years and graduated! Not with a 4.0 average, granted, but I was determined to get out and not come away from my college experience feeling like I missed anything! It's expensive, it's a crazy juggling act and it's a blast; you just have to learn to balance on that wire. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!!! Good luck, pal!

Sometimes going out after work energizes people and some times its just a hassel to others.

That doesn't mean somethings wrong with you. Just think about going out on the weekends or one day a week so its not overwhelming.

And if school is a lot of work find a study group to help.

You may be dealing with more than you've ever dealt with at one time and this takes getting use to.

HELLO.....Anybody home? You just admitted to having two days off and you are asking a question like this? Your days off do not have to be back to back to enjoy a social life. But by you admitting that you don't enjoy working and that you rather just veg and watch t.v. means that you are to lazy to make time to have a social life. Pretty weird question and an all around meaningless waste of peoples time when you have the attitude you have. Get up off your lazy *** and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Once you get home from work, jump in the shower, get refreshed and walk out that door and make it happen. You can do this just like the other million or so college kids.

I was working 2 full time jobs and going to school online at one point. I know a lot of people do it and they just manage their time really well. With me, it was crank. Cocaine leaves me all edgy. Never do it. Especially not for this reason, it's the best way to become an addict.

Some people need to study less than others, some people don't care about their grades, and some people just have more energy than others. We are not all created equal.
