Hi I'm currently debating either joining the Navy or Army National Guard. The Navy called today and said that I was approved by MEPS to physical and then send off for a waiver since my RE code is a 3. The Army National Guard has already sent my medical documents off the get a waiver approved before my physical the recruiter told me that how they do it in the guard. They send for a waiver then if approved take the physical then sign up. Its been a week now for the guard so hopefully next week sometime we will hear something. Anyway I'm wondering if I take the physical at MEPS for the Navy pass it just fine, and the waiver comes back for the Army guard and I decide to join the guard is the physical good for both. Can I get the waiver back and use the Navy MEPS physical to join the guard or the Navy. Because from what I seen when I went to MEPS a couple of years ago everyone goes through the same physical. So please let me know thanks.

The MEPS Physicals are exactly the same, but some services had different limitations or requirements. Just like the lifting up a certain amount of weight. But everybody duck walks, everybody shows their butthole, everybody lifts some weight. So they could just look at your last physical and make sure it meets their standards. Besides, i don't think the Army Guard is turning away anybody.

I assume you need a waiver of some medical condition because that condition is considered to be disqualifying and that's why you were initially discharged from your previous tour of service. The physical requirements for the Guard are contained in a different chapter of the Army Regulation used as the medical standard for fitness that apply to the five active branches of the military. But, for initial enlistment in the Guard, you must meet the physical standards prescribed for the active branches of the military. So, if you pass the Navy physical, it should be valid for Guard enlistment.

From my understanding the physicals for each branch is different. For example in the air force you are required to lift 40 pounds while standing on the balls of your feet, in the Army they make you duck walk across the room to make sure you have no defects in the feet or spine, also looks at hand eye coordination. Im not sure about the Navy or Marines or Coast gaurd, but I do know that the branches all have different requirements at the physical.

In MEPS all the physicals are the same. The physicans cover all aspects for every branch.
