I want to get my husband a surround sound system that is compatible with his xbox 360 for Christmas, but do not know what I need or what is a good deal, or isn't.

I found this system at walmart.com
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5280864#Item+Description

For those in the know, is that a good system? If not, what should I get?

Thank you!

Just about any home theater will be compatible. The compatible remote doesn't really mean much, except you have one less remote. Somewhat nice, but a spare remote is handy too.

Here's a link on what you would do to set it up:

Use the TOSLink (digital audio) to get the best out of it. It does cost more, but its worth if it you want real surround sound.

If you go with analog (red and white RCA cables), the receiver will output audio in just stereo or will send certain frequencies to different speakers. Not always with the best results. It just sounds well not as good.

Buy what you like. What sounds good to one person, may sound horrible to another. And frankly, its a question of what is MORE important to you.

In the end, a more expensive system might have better performance, but the cost difference might be more important. For example, a nice system could be $350. But you could buy 4 games for the price difference. Its all a question of priorities.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. =)

extraordinarily in HTiB structures, the better the watts, the greater advantageous the mind's eye of the advertising branch. do no longer pay any interest to those wattage rankings. Speaker wattage rankings are very almost ineffective whether precise. If precise speaker rankings are no longer an easy extensive form yet particularly gadgets of complicated equations. RMS amplifier rankings are smart if precise yet in HTiB or maybe in extremely costly Receivers, the RMS rankings are not precise. a typical mass marketplace receiver rated 100w/ch x 5 as an example = 500 watts will generally be approximately 30w/ch. you will in no way get a "first rate high quality device" via buying an HTiB. Your basically desire of it is to purchase guy or woman factors and circumvent buying audio device from electronics agencies like Sony and so on. in case you're able to try this by the years and finally advance your funds you would be greater advantageous off. probable initiate with something like an Onkyo or HK receiver plus any consumer-friendly Blu-Ray participant for on the element of your modern comprehensive funds. Get some audio device at a Pawn save or something. Then later whilst funds enable get some first rate important audio device, later a powered sub,... in the top you have something first rate, no longer great yet first rate. attempt to get an entire kit on your funds and it is not going to take place. mk

It's not the best system there is, but it

should do the trick if your husband is

not too picky and you cannot afford a

$500 system.
