First off im a girl and hes a guy.

I joined swimming this year and the coach I train with is HOT and hes pretty cool, he just graduated from college this year so Id say hes about 21 or 22 and Im 18 so hes only 2-3 years older. Oh and this is a school team although he DOES NOT teach or work at my school.

Now would it be wrong to flirt with him? Or kinda hint at the fact I have a crush on him?

And would it be illegal if anything were to happen even though I am 18?

Ok so one of you said that it might take my mind away from my training...

...it actually drives me to train harder and get better and impress him. We havent been in the season very long but im already the best in my lane.

Nothing illegal but the coach can still get fired for it and you could get thrown off the team.

Don't worry about it, your coach probable doesn't notice. Put be cautious, having a crush on a teacher sometimes happens, but don't let anything happen. The vollyball coach at my school slept with a girl there, and he's in jail now, and she's really messed up.

I'm assuming this is a school swim team. I think he could probably be fired if he was to get involved with you while he's your coach. You're of legal age so he couldn't be accused of statutory rape, but losing his job for sleeping with a student (he is obviously employed by the school district) will follow him for the rest of his life. Be very careful. Maybe you could let your interests be known after you graduate.

Not illegal, but pretty gross. Even though he's not a teacher, the school still supplies his paycheck.

So going out with you would be pretty morally wrong.

Why not wait until the end of the year? Then you graduate and it's all good

It would be very unprofessional of him if anything were to happen, not necessarily illegal. however, focusing on this guy would probably take away from your training...and from my past experience, guys who are 21/22 dont really want anything to do with 18 year olds. sorry hun.

I hate to burst your bubble, but he has most likely signed a contract with the school district. It is referred to as a "Hands Off" contract, in which he promises to keep his distance with any of the students he teaches. If he breaks this contract, not only would he lose his job, but he would find it very difficult indeed to find any employment in the teaching field.
Leave him be.

Nothing legally as far as legal age, but he could lose his job and any other future in teaching if he is caught fraternizing with his students. If you really are crushing on him, do it from afar, you don't want to jeopardize his career. Come back when you have left HS.
