What is all this hard work people keep saying relationships take.

Ive never had one, but I know that everything I do is to get one.

Whatever kind of work it takes in a relationship it can't possibly be more then the ungodly amount of work it takes to find one.

Anything worthwhile in this life takes hard work, or it isn't valued. Looking for someone is NOT hardwork, keeping them is. You're trying too hard. Dating is supposed to be fun. That's one of your problems right there!

Don't we wish. They are really almost two separate issues.

At first, we are so happy with our new relationship that nothing seems problematic. No one ever believes that the glow can ever possibly wear off, but it does. That doesn't mean the love is dead or worthless or even all that sick. It's just a transition time, because that's when the big and little annoyances that you were once proud to overlook start looking like hanging offenses. lol

Meanwhile, we're talking about two separate people who do NOT think and prefer identically. Therefore, balancing consideration for your partner with preserving one's own self is an ongoing challenge.

It's not an easy learn, but it is definitely worth the effort, as you can imagine.

But rest assured, it's not that much different from the hard work you are experiencing now. It's part of the same continuum.

Its not so much work as it is patience and compassion. Problems will occur and things will not always be easy. If you can make it through those problems most likely you will make it through anything. Don't be so quick to find a relationship, it will find you when you least expect it. It's worth the wait when you find the right person!
