Citizenship by birth
A child born in Australia to parents who are not permanent residents or Australian citizens acquires Australian citizenship automatically on his or her 10th birthday provided the child is ordinarily resident in Australia. Children born in Australia to foreign diplomats do not acquire Australian citizenship.

Yes and no. Children born on Australian soil (eg-- not on a military base which is actually land belonging to another country IN the country) are Australian.
HOWEVER... if you are not permanent residents, it will take until your child is 10 years old before he/ she acquires citizenship, and that will be IF your child ordinarily lives here.
So yes... the child will be... but no, not right away.
HOWEVER, if you are permanent residents by the time the child is born, then yes, at birth. In this case the chidren are also normally citizens of the country their parents come from. It depends on the laws of the country of origin.

If one or both of the parents have resident or citizen status, yes.
Otherwise, the child does NOT acquire Australian citizenship until s/he reaches 10 years of age, IF s/he is usually resident in Australia.
Being born in Australia does not automatically confer citizenship.
Cheers :-)

Not necessarily, I believe the way I heard it works is.....Your baby is considered an American but you are not. You will have to obtain citizenship the same as anyone else. However your baby will have dual citizenship and at legal age (18) it can choose if it wants to remain a citizen here or where you came from.

Yes he is an Australian citizen the baby's parents aren't therefore when it comes to the end of your students visa the baby can stay but you can't so you had better get the baby an Australian passport before its time to go home

if the baby resides in Australia for a number of years yes it will be Australian but having a baby in Australia will not allow the parents to remain in the country after their visa expires

No. Nope and No way. Sorry, but as current immigration law stands, your baby is free to stay but you both would need to leave.
