For Christians, pushing their religion shows a lack of understanding of how people become Christians. The Holy Spirit is the only One Who can cause a person to become a Christian. A Christian can't do that. All a Christian can do is explain things, share information. Christians like to do this because they care about other people, and they want other people to have what they have. But I always tell people it's not my job to persuade. My job is limited to providing information. I try to be sensitive, and not to talk to people who don't want to hear what I have to say.

Nonchristians have a much different problem. They can't rely on the Holy Spirit, so all they can do is try to persuade or coerce. So that's why they do it. And I think a lot of people who attempt to convince are doing it because they're not sure themselves, and they think that if they can persuade someone else, that means they must be right, even though in their heart they really know otherwise. And some people try to convince simply because they want "notches in their guns". You know how every time a settler in the West, an outlaw, killed someone, he put a notch in his gun. Well, some people (Christians included, sometimes) do it just so they can figuratively put a notch in their "gun". And some people take great delight in flummoxing other people. Some cult leaders do it for the power. They often have effective techniques that can get a person to set aside their own common sense and believe something totally off the wall.

Whatever people tell you, check it out for yourself. Don't just take anybody's word for it. Read the Bible and other holy books, and see which ones best reflect reality, and which ones are backed by evidence. Feel free to ask questions; make it clear to people that you aren't there for people to coerce, persuade, brainwash, or compel you to believe their view. Ask God to show you truth, and He will. It's really between you and God anyway. Whatever I tell you, what you do with it is between you and God. I'm not responsible to anyone if I don't talk you into anything. It doesn't hurt me in the eyes of God, and I'm not required to persuade people, only to inform.

One more thing: you can't terrify a person into becoming a Christian, so I frown on people who tell other people that if they don't believe, they're gonna burn. Christians are won by love, not fear.

I hope this helps.

Its wrong for them to 'push' religion on some one. That just drives them away. The only reason some one raised outside of there religion changes is due to deep and personal reasons, I mean true believers of a religion not some guy who goes to a church only for the social aspect. From the converts point of view they have this great part of there life and they want share it to the world, but sometimes its just done wrong and they come off as a$$holes. However, if the other person brings up the question of religion, it is an aspect of most religions to answer all questions. But change will only come from those that you care about.

There can be only one right religion. It's kind of the same as 2+2=4. 4 is the only right answer. There is one right God, not just for you, but for everybody. A person can't receive salvation through God A AND through god B. It's one or the other. Is God made for you, or, are you made for/by God?

Would you go to a doctor who made up his own ideas about how to treat diseases? Would you hire an attorney to represent you who had never been to law school, but just did what he felt seemed right to him? Woyuld you get on an airplane whose pilot had never been instructed how to fly?

Our world is made up of unchangeable physical laws which cannot be violated.

If the physical realm is so precisely ordered, why do people think that in spiritual matters everything is just willy-nilly make-it-up-as-you-go?

It's wrong but it's not going to change. Most of them did what they did because they think they are doing us a favor by saving us and gain God's love in the long run.

Yes, it is wrong.
But it is going to continue, unfortunately.
Hector- It is not just Christians and Muslims, other people do it too. Pretty much every relgion (or Atheism) has people who will try to push their religion on others.

Thought in general should be to take yhou beyond where you are to something more. If any system of thought (including religion) is chosen simply because it matches what you can see now, it is a waste of time.

I think it's wrong and shows a great deal of disrespect and intolerance. Also it's arrogant when people try to convert others like that. I'm still searching for a spiritual/religious path. They probably wouldn't like it if someone tried to convert them, yet those that push their religion on others don't seem to care.

There is only one way to eternal life, and that is to accept the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made to pay for your sins. All other paths lead to eternal destruction.
