You should try reading the Gnostic Gospels. In one of them, Christ says the true God is a superior being who has no desire to be either worshiped or obeyed.

Ummm, where in the entire bible did you read that God "created hell" or Heaven for that matter? I see here he created the heavens (sky, not HEAVEN <----see no "s" at the end) and the earth. I am not an avid reader of the bible, but I don't remember any passages that I did read that said he created anything except the heavens, earth, man and all the stuff in between... NOPE, read Genesis again and it doesn't say there that he created Heaven OR Hell, OR Satan for that matter... Any thoughts on that?

Just read it fairly thouroughly, and NOPE... God is all loving and you mistakenly assume that because they use the WORD heaven, that it literally means heaven, but in reality it just means the sky... and I see all 7 days here and it says he was done on the 7th day... yet, no hell, no heaven created in that time...

Wow, I hope none of the people that answered this question are Catholic, because that would be pretty lame that you gave the an answer to this question when it's on the FIRST PAGE that he didn't create it!!! Haha, I would like to point out that I don't even have a denomination (I have my own beliefs) and I seem to understand your own religion better than you do : )

Aww, gotta thumbs down, yet no argument to the contrary...THAT is pretty lame...

if there was no hell and no punishment for bad deeds there would have been no justice. If there was no justice then there would be no fear. A person would come to your or my house and kill you or me and get away because God is "forgiving"
If God wasnt all kindness and mercy he wouldnt take the pain of creatures upon himself only to give them a free will so they fulfill those desires which is not thier true nature and be that which is not thier true selves

Heaven and Hell are our imaginary. Our ancestors created God to control and streamline us to follow their customs and environmental habits. They actually entrusted us to follow the customs to be in love and peace. But now we are enable to think in a scientifical way. Heaven and Hell are in the earth as long us we live.

We create our own hell on Earth. I doubt that hell would be able to top the atrocities that have happened since the world began.

The men who created god needed to create a stick to go along with their carrot - obviously an afterthought.

God is loving, but He is also holy and righteous. Hell was created to punish Satan and the demons that fell with him. God will punish the wicked, and in so doing shows His love to those whom He redeems, by giving them something they neither want nor deserve - salvation from their sins.

The Bible does not teach that the wicked will go to a place of eternal torment to be tortured for all eterenity. Romans 6:23 shows the fate of the sinners.

the Catholic/Protestant concept of hell was adopted from paganism and fleshed out by adapting those concepts from a play by Dante called "The Divine Comedy".

For those poor lost souls that deny and defy god till they are inside the grave then there is no breath to ask forgiveness, and only one finale place to see.
