They may be professing to be religious, but they have not achieved any control over their anger. It is laid down in all great religions in the world that one has to develop full control over the negative sense of anger, if one is to make any progress spiritually.I have seen real intellectuals religious personalities who were never irked by any question on their religion , which at times included severe criticism too.A person who does not know the correct answer will naturally show his anger to evade a reply.By showing his anger, he makes it clear that he is no where in spirituality and is an imposter posing as a religious person.

I would say, based on how you asked this question, that perhaps you are being disrespectful of the person's religion. Do you ask accusing questions, using phrases like "Your religion" and "You people?" If so, the person may feel as if they are being attacked, and not being earnestly asked a question to further your learning. I personally love answering questions about my faith, and if you still have questions, I would be happy to answer them the best way I can. But if you really want answers, and you aren't just asking to be disrespectful, you shouldn't have a problem with anyone who is strong in their faith and who actually knows what they are talking about. Good luck :]

I don't know who you've been asking but I'm a christian and I'm not angry because you ask questions. That gives me an open door to tell you about God's love and how merciful He is. I can only speak for myself and sometimes I do get irritated when people come to this section to make fun or ask questions that are making fun of our faith. All I can do is pray for those people and ask God to show me the way to be a better example and patient and kind so that He can be seen through me. God bless you and I hope you find your answers. All things are possible with Him.

Because most people don't know more than the very basics of their religion .They are embarrassed to be asked any sort of a real question . Some people in grades 5 -12 learn some things but by the time they are in college or work they have forgotten most of it . Ever watch Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" ? !

If someone gets angry when you ask them a question about religion, either:
1) That person isn't secure enough about their faith to answer cooly
or
2) The question was a stupid question asked more as a joke than someone looking for a real answer.
If your question is a legitimate question and you're open to listening to a real answer, there should be no reason for anyone to get angry.

The only time I get angry is with willful ignorance. If someone genuinely wants to learn something, I don't get angry.
Many do however, especially if they're from a fundamentalist background. For them, their religion is an absolute truth which is not to be questioned.

Because there are hundreds of Christian religions, and each one has it's differences. Each one thinks they're right. And each one has their own interpretation of the scriptures [that's where conflict starts]. Usually when someone wants to ask a religious question, they just want to argue about how their religion and beliefs are right, and yours are wrong. They raise their voice and try to cram their opinion down your throat. [I know from experience] Soooooooooo that's why some people try to avoid the subject.
If it is someone who is truely interested, because they don't understand something, and sincerely want to know more about your church, because they have come to have similar beliefs..... then , by all means, help them.
To be more specific about your question.....I don't think it's anger people are feeling, as much as they feel like they have to defend their beliefs, they're just on guard... ready to defend.
But that's just my opinion, from my experiences.

child you are talking to the wrong type of people one that has been called out, like myself and a few others, enjoy talking to others about our beliefs and answering question for hours on end. I have chased off or converted many a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon that have come to my door and discussed our religious beliefs to one another for days on end and there were/are times that some one would come up to me in different places asking questions about my beliefs these are the things/times that I truly enjoy sharing my beliefs whenever needed, as should all that have received their calling!

I don't think I have. My stance is we are all pretty stupid so I have nothing to prove to another. I can only offer my experience and it in a way that is not offensive. [Hopefully] We must all look into ourselves to see why and what pisses us off. I used to be very angry, cold, and very sharp tongued. It was always about me until I almost died. We are all closer together than we are apart. We just don't know it. I do. Now.

I made the mistake of asking three questions here once. They weren't rude or derogatory in any way but I got a rash of hateful responses from so called "Christians."
So far, I have met only one Christian in here that is true. The rest are nothing more than the Pharisees.
