i want to buy the PS3 but i don't want to buy it and then a PS4 comes out right after i buy my ps3 lol

The Ps3 JUST came out last year! Why is it that people are even talking about a Ps4? The Ps3 was built for a long life. The Ps2 is still running strong and it doesn't look like its going anywhere. The only people that should be worried about a new system soo soon are the 360 people and the Wii people. The Ps3 isn't going anywhere for a LOOOOONG time.

I would estimate that the PlayStation 4 will come out in 2012. If you didn't realize, every single PlayStation had a six year period until a new one came out.
PSone- Year 1994 +6years
PlayStation 2- Year 2000 +6 years
PlayStation 3- Year 2006
Of course, they shouldn't release the PlayStation 4 in 2010, because people just got settled. You wouldn't wanna get a PlayStation 3, and be happy with it until the PS4 comes out with new games only for the PlayStation 4. I actually think that when the PlayStation 4 comes out, the games that are made for it, will be also for the PS3 because many people own the PS3. This is only a guess, but in my head, it looks like this will happen.

The worst case scenario is that there's a PS4 in 2010. That's the earliest date that a Sony representative has said anything about a PS4.
But I don't think there's going to be a PS4 until at least 2011 or 2012.
Of course, there is a possibility that it could come out in 2010 if the PS3 doesn't gain some ground on the Wii and 360 in 2008.

i have a PS3 and xbox 360 but the PS4 thing its going to be hard to improve on the PS3 so I'm not expecting a PS4 to come out for a long time i mean look at the time difference in the PS2 and PS3 but id say get the PS3 theyr awesome and if a PS4 comes out soon just sell the PS3 that's what i did with the psp and PS3

Although there won't be a ps4 for a long time, I can not guarentee that a new version of the ps3 won't arrive on scene. Sony is doing everything they can to push that blu-ray paperweight, and they have been fiddinlg around with different configurations to modify the price. What i will say is that no matter what PS3 you sell your soul for, they will all play whatever PS3 games you are lucky enough to have
To be honest though, what games do you really see that are must own on the ps3 comming out? The xbox 360 has a solid library of great Exclusive titles and although it does cost about $4-7 a month for the online(depending if you pay monthly or yearly), I can assure you the money is well spent.

Ya, better not I just got a PS3, but seriously, don't expect one for at lest 3-4 years, and even if one comes out, they shouldn't stop makin games for a year or after that.

I think it'll be at least another two years until the next version comes out. They've included blue ray into the PS3, so I think it's built to be somewhat future proof.
