How many caucasians are born with brown eyes?

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding...most caucasian babies ARE BORN with blue or grey eyes- they then change to their normal eye color in about 6 months.

I'm talking about BIRTH eye color

yes, I agree most caucasian DO indeed have the genes for brown eyes but as NEWBORNS most CAUCASIAN babies ARE BORN with light eyes-not that they keep them.

I think most Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes but the color changes over the first several months of life. The color you are born with is not necessarily what they end up being. Check the following sites. They have some interesting information.

The key word in this discussion should be "seem" since many Caucasians "seem" to be born with blue irises because they haven't yet started producing the melanin that will change their eye color to brown as they mature. According to Wikipedia (the fount of all Internet knowledge), "exposure to light after birth triggers the production of melanin." Perhaps you were immediately placed under a bright fluorescent light to cure new-born jaundice?

Brown eyes predominate worldwide (even among Europeans) since brown-eyed irises come from a dominant gene while blue-eyed irises are from a recessive one. Brown eyes, however, are the least common among Nordic and Germanic populations. In Iceland, for example, 90 percent of the population have blue and green eyes. At least in the case of geographically-isolated Iceland, this is because people with the recessive gene for blue or green eyes have intermarried.

Incidentally, Hitler, who certainly pushed the Aryan look, had brown eyes. Then again, Luci Johnson, the daughter of LBJ, also worried about having brown eyes in a blue-eyed family. Her lineage was primarily Scottish. At any rate, the tenor of this Internet conversation has made my brown eyes blue!

Many! With 3/4 of the world having brown eyes, it's no wonder that most Caucasians have brown eyes too.
There may be some other extraction in your heritage, where your ancestors settled in Germany -maybe from the Middle East, Africa, Italy or Greece, etc., long before any of your family history was ever documented.
Are you sure that you do not have any Native American ancestry -that is, if several generations of your family have lived in America?

Adolf Hitler was German, but ironically had dark hair and eyes, rather than being the blue eyed blonde that he thought was superior.

Don't worry, your are normal, and prolly beautiful the way you are!

I was born with brown eyes...they were never blue nor gray. My oldest son had the most beautiful black eyes when he was born and they didn't lighten to a hazel shade until he was a year old. It's really not as rare as you think. Depending on your ethnic heritage, blue eyes at birth may be an anomaly in your lineage. Amongst the Flemish it is extremely common.

PS I'm also pale and have freckles. But my eyes have never been light in my life. Maybe you're Prussian, French-Canadian, Swiss, Belgian and Dutch just like me.

i do no longer think of human beings thoroughly study the full post here....sure, babies could be born with brown eyes, yet no, that does no longer propose that the child is unavoidably Hispanic. I easily have infant twins and that they are mixed (white & black). My son has incredible blue eyes and has considering the fact that he grew to become into born and my daughter has had darkish brown (surprisingly much black) eyes considering the fact that she grew to become into born. Her eyes have been so darkish for a whilst we weren't particular what colour they have been!! You oftentimes hear babies being born with blue eyes, yet that's no longer continually the case. Eye colour, epidermis colour, hair colour all is set through genetics. My dad grew to become into honest skinned with black hair and blue eyes, my mom has olive epidermis with darkish brown hair, my brother has darkish brown hair (nicely what's left of it! ha!) with blue eyes, my sister has darkish brown hair with hazel eyes and that i've got blonde hair and blue eyes!! And NO i grew to become into no longer accompanied or have yet another father. that's basically how issues artwork out. except that's a controversy of paternity, wherein case that's not extremely your organization besides, it won't remember. as lengthy because of the fact the child is healthful and the dad and mom are happy, what's the factor??

After the way you have attacked responders with your rudeness and insults, I would say that at this point, you are not entitled to an answer.

AND, if so many people seems to have misunderstood your question and are not answering it the way you were looking for, just maybe we are NOT the problem, but YOU are with the way you asked your question.

AND, this is the genealogy board, not genetics. They are 2 different things and have nothing to do with each other. Genealogy is a HISTORICAL body of research of one's dead ancestors that anyone can do if they work at it. Genetics is a SCIENCE for which one must be specially trained in college to be a genetics scientist. Genealogists are NOT geneticists. We are not trained to answer your question. That is like asking a librarian how to do open heart surgery. I would say that shows that YOU are the one that is stupid to not know the difference.

You have been reported for violating Yahoo community guidelines.

"A blonde, a red head, and a brunette robbed a bank. When they heard the police coming they ran outside of town into a barn. When they got there they found three potato sacks and each climbed in. When the cops came into the barn they kicked the first bag that the red head was in, and she shouted, “Meow.” The cops thought she was just a cat. They then kicked the bag that the brunette was in, and she shouted, “Bark.” The cops thought she was only a dog. When they kicked the bag that the blonde was in she shouted, “Potatoes!” "

As a youth I was blue eyed & blond... my eyes are still blue and over the years my hair color has gone from blonde to light brown to grey [and a lot less hair] without dye.

birth eye colour for almost all children is a blue hue irrespective of race. bropwn eyes are rare indeed however anything is possible when talking about genetics. It could be a throw back to multiple generations past.

same as white skinned partents can have kids that have dark skin if one of their ancestors multiple generations ago had dark skin.

genetics it is something that makes us wonderfully different..

enjoy your looks and think you are unique
