I am in the Army, in Iraq as I type this and I will tell you the answer is YES he can be deployed from Germany to Iraq. Many of the guys I am with now were previously with units based in Germany and deployed with them. 1st Infantry Division and 1st Armored Division are both based in Germany and they have both been deployed to Iraq multiple times. I suggest staying put until he reports to his new unit. His unit will have a general idea of when their next deployment rotation will start. That will help you know if you want to move over or not.

Yes it is possible. I know a girl whose husband has been stationed in Germany (army base) for almost 6 months, and she just got the word that he is most likely going to Iraq. Plus when my husband left for Baghdad ( he is still there) they sent him to Germany first for a layover before being stationed in Iraq which is where he has been for the past few months.
If your going to Germany, just make sure you get everything you could ever possibly need done ahead of time because I think you'd have to go there alone, meaning your husband will be deployed there first.
Good luck doll.

Just like he said. The military has the authority to deploy anyone whenever they want. However that being said. The Army normally deploys for 15 months. So most likely he will be in Germany for at least 15 months. Certainly no garentee's though. Good Luck to you. (And be glad he's in Germany it is a nice, place to be at)

I was deployed from Germany to Iraq but I was single however I did have alot of friends who were married with kids. I know it was hard for the wives but they started to hang out with each other for support. That's life in the Military. Hang in there.

When the war first started they were deploying soldiers from Germany to Iraq. Looks likke things will start to slow down so I don't think so. Mostly National Guard and Reserves have been going.

Nothing to worry ! if you are overseas and he gets deployed to Iraq, YOU have a Military Family /Support system to rely on!
In the meantime, enjoy Germany - a great oppurtunity of a lifetime!

Hi Shay - welcome to military life -- let me tell you the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard can deploy your loved ones anywhere they want to, anytime they want to. As a mililtary wife, you are considered to be baggage. It's a great life, but expect the unexpected. Good luck
