Clearly there are minimum physical and mental requirements for joining the army, but are there any specific standards for hearing and vision? What about height and weight?

Here's the vision standards using glasses or contacts:
20/20 in the better eye. 20/400 in the other.
20/30 in the better eye. 20/100 in the other.
20/40 in the better eye. 20/70 in the other.
Hearing standards:
No loss greater than 30 decibels pure tone at 500, 1000, 2000 cycles per second.
No loss greater than 35 decibels pure tone at 3000 and 4000 cycles per second.
Height: Must be within 60" (5 feet tall) and 80"( Six feet, 8" inches tall)
Weight:
60": 100 pounds minimum. 141 pounds maximum.
80": 166 pounds minimum. 250 pounds maximum.
Those who weigh more than the maximum permitted will have their percentage of body fat measured. That limit is 26%.

I am in the Navy... I am 20/400+ in both eyes but I correct to 20/20. Someone else said you couldn't get in with color blindness but they are mistaken. You can get in but there are jobs you can't qualify for. As for hearing I am not 100% sure what the standards are but you pretty much can get a waiver for anything to get in the Army as long as your not leagally deaf.

Those are all things that will be tested. As far as vision, as long as it can be corrected to 20/20, you are fine. Color blindness though will get you booted.
There are height/weight requirements, but they are pretty lax, once you are in they are more stringent.
As far as hearing, it will be tested, but I don't know the minimum requirement.
Think twice about this decision though. Once you are in, you are their property!

Right now I think they'll take just about anyone.
