There has been so much tension warmongering among political leaders of the world, especially Iran and the US to the point where most average everyday people would think that war with Iran is only a matter of time.
I'm thinking of an actual similar transformation of the nuclear problem with Iran just like it happened to North Korea.
Remember when there was so much tension and warmongering between the US and North Korea? well now that is all but gone and NK has already started to disarm.
the US was never going to attack NK with NK's 1 million man army and outrageous amount of possible repercussions if attacked.
With Iran, it would be so much worse if the US attacked, oil at 200 a barrel, gas at 6 a gallon, more chaos in iraq, more chaos in the middle east, and even chaos in the US.
I think ultimately, what happened to the North Korean nuclear situation will happen to Iran.
What do you think?
thank you

fathulk, I agree that if there is an attack, it will definitely be an air attack and ONLY an air attack....but think of the consequences.....oil, gas, our troops in Iraq, our troops elsewhere in the middle east, Iran will strike Israel, etc

Well, based on what I've heard from Iranian people that I have talked to, I don't think it'll come to a war. I think instead of using our resources and stretching our military for another war, we should work on building the Iranian peoples' confidence. Most of them don't like Ahmadinejad, and they also understand that he's a puppet. Get them to revolt against the government, and take it out, and we won't have to worry about them anymore.
The only reason there hasn't been a war yet (we all know that President Bush has no problems with preemptive strikes, with or without proof of there being a reason for them) is because of the Iranian people. We don't want to hurt them.
However, I think part of the reason we went into Iraq was so that we'd have troops already on the ground, should the situation with Iran escalate. Seriously, look at a map. We've got Iran surrounded. Would Ahmadinejad REALLY be stupid enough to make a move, considering the fact that we could be there within hours? I sure hope not.
I don't think Iran will back down. North Korea has not always been a problem. Iran has. If it wasn't weapons, it'd be funding terrorists. But I still don't think we'll have to go to war with them. The best weapons against the Iranian government are already there.

I Hope things turn up with Iran like they did with North Korea.
The situation in Iran is very different than that in Iraq.
Iran's military is more powerful and diverse. Iran is internally more stable than Iraq.
I don't think the Iranians will just sit back and watch the air strike. They WILL retaliate.
Besides there are so many relatively vulnerable targets around that they could easily hit. The whole region will be drawn to war. Oil and Gas prices will soar beyond belief. Casualties will be very high on both sides.
Imagine civil unrest that MIGHT occur in US if the situation develops to that.
I think it's in the best interest of everyone that this "Situation" gets resolved peacefully

North Korea was using it as a way to aggravate the US as it has done in the past and since the war in Korea, they wanted money, pure and simple, they are a corrupt and morally bankrupt nation and China does not support them very well.
I dont think Iran will do such a thing, since their main purpose is to annihilate Israel.I believe Israel will have a preemptive, non nuclear strike if Iran keeps threatening their existence...they have done it before with other nations threatening them.

Unless Iran does something really stupid (such as attacking our navy) I see the prospects for war in the next 2 years as nonexistent.
The current administration is using economic and diplomatic isolation as a means of reducing the popular support for the government in Iran.
However - with a new administration there will be a new police towards Iran.

I think that a massive air attack and possibly an occupation of key terrain to ensure petroleum shipping is secure is very likely. It is up the the Iranians if they want to chose to continue what they are doing or change their ways.

Soon. I just don't see the US continuing to let Iran push us around with the threats of nukes, plus we have troops in Iraq now. If it happens, it will be a coordinated attack with Israel most likely and possibly a few other nations.

I think that their would be too much pressure on Iran from a global point of view. If the US would stay quiet for a bit, Russia and China would take care of the situation.

If I want to know what D!ck Cheney is thinking, I turn on Foxnews. Brit Hume has like a "shining" thing going on with the VP.
Get ready for another war, gonna get real ugly.
Edit: All this talk about what the US should do...
The US needs to stop using so much damn oil.
Like pronto.

mostly it will be an air attack.
we have the country surrounded and we have our own anti-ICBM systems almost completely in place.
we should give them an eight hour warning to let us in or we will take them down
they probably wont be able to counterattack
and the we should start drilling the immense oil supply that we have in the gulf of Mexico to compensate for the gas prices.
