i think it means you are never in the same spot for more than a moment in life. The moment you reach a destination the next path appears. i.e. you really want to get onto the college football team, when you do, you only want to go pro. Once you get there, you want to be the best... that kind of idea

People can, by collective action of some, change the course of the future for everyone. It can be literal -- if a few people determine that they want to cut a diagonal path through a big lawn in order to shorten their walk around the lawn from point A to point B then eventually a path appears and people who happen upon it later think it is a purposeful path for their use. More and more people take the shortcut until nobody even knows its a short cut. It can also be figurative -- talking about ideas, where if enough people promulgate a new idea for awhile, it becomes an established idea for others and may soon become a norm. An American example would be something like our democracy, where it began as an elitist institution for men with land and property and expanded with much struggling and difficulty to include women, poor people, other races, groups that it would now be unimaginable to disenfranchise. The idea that we all should be able to participate took root and became the common thought path in this country. Another example could be something more contemporary like intermarriage between people of different races -- it used to be unthinkable to some and just really unusual to others whereas it has now become fairly common and increasingly unusual for anyone to really have a problem with the concept. Once enough people adopted and propounded an idea, it became a normal idea for most other people (although you'll still find out-lyers who remember the old outlines and object to these new "paths" of thought).

A path appears as the people crowd in the same spot. But the path is the same for all people.. there is no change .. no destiny.. those people share the same future becouse of thier fear and ignorence to step out of the same spot.

It doesn't mean a lot to me. It's common sense. When many people step on a grass land, sooner the stepped-on grass dies out making a path-way mark.

there are things that are new to us. some make initiatives to walk in a direction. some follow that lead. eventually, when many follow, it becomes clear that that is the right way.

it means, do not be afraid if you venture to new ideas. if your idea is worth it, then you might start up something big (trend).
