Yes, it's a very holy site to the Mohammadeans, and quite a yearly tourist attraction.

In response to the evasive non-answers who offered nothing more than a denial about Mohammad recording the Qur'an ... Mohammad DID record it, in his MIND.

BISMILLAH HIRRAHMAN NIRRAHEEM, the first place where Qura'n unzila [got down] to Mohammad sallallaho aalaihey wassallam, is ghar-e- Hira [cave Hira, in Saudi Arabia.] Allah says to Mohammad in Qura'n that he didn't know anything before Qura'n but after Qura'n he had much knowldge about every thing of its history and present and some of its future also. Allah recorded Quran in Mohammad's chest by His blessings to Mohammed. Some little part of Qra'n Mohammd had forgotten by Hikmat of Allah [contrive of Allah], and Allah has telling it in Qura'n also to Mohammed about that part of Qura'n.

Muhammad did not record the Qur'an.
It is a well researched fact that he was illiterate.
