I'm thinking of getting him a Chia Pet that grows grass for Christmas, because I know he loves to eat grass during the summer and it's healthy for his digestion. Is the grass from those chia-pet-type things (the ones specifically with GRASS seed) safe for him?

Look on the internet for information about the Chia Pet grass and if it's safe for animals to digest. I would think not but just check to be sure. Up at the PetSmart stores, they grow this cat nip grass that is for cats and it's safe for them to eat.

I believe that a chia pets grass is just actual grass from outside. The box should tell if it's harmful to a pet or not. If not call the company who makes it and ask just to be safe. They do sell cat grass that you can grow and is 100% safe for the cat to eat maybe look into that.

It shouldn't hurt him. Cats eat grass as a way to get rid of hairballs. They eat the grass and then throw it up soon afterwards. The only difference I can see between chia and regular grass is that the chia is very high in protein.

Cats eat grass as you probably know, also you can buy grass kits made for cats ( I am not talking about marijuana). My point being that cats and dogs eat grass and other greens, so I wouldn't worry to much if it does eat the greenery from the Chia things.. you know clay figurine, thingy. You could always check and see if the plant growing is dangerous to the cat.. as I know some house plants are.. hope this helps.. as it is a pretty good question.
