The Revelation was a vision, and does contain quite a lot of imagry.

It is also a book of prophecy, and describes things to come. These events may or may not happen exactly as described, but they will happen.

The "Left Behind" series of books did a good job of putting The Revelation into a modern tale, and kept to the scriptures fairly well. It is a more realistic sounding prophecy, if you will, that puts the word of God into today's society and today's language. It is an entertaining and interesting read, and still within the basic scriptural context.

With God, nothing is impossible. Without God the book of Revelation is confusing and difficult to comprehend. Ask God for guidance before reading this book of future prophecy.
Perhaps buy yourself a Ryrie Study Bible. God Bless You.

You mean the book of revelation? I sure can't. I think it's pretty obviously meant not to be taken literally. There are symbols of things in there--the Roman Empire, the spirit of man, that kind of thing.

I have read several articles and books and heard lectures attempting to explain it, but I don't really thinks anyone really knows much more about it than you and I do. The more confusing a book is written, the harder it is to interpret, the easier it is for people to interpret it to mean whatever it is they -want- it to mean.

But if you mean 'revelations' in general, like the Bible is supposed to be a revelation to believers of the nature of God, then what is the point of a revelation if people can't understand it? 8^)

Why yes I do. I just read it an interpret how I want to make myself feel better. I've already determined a big sale next week at Macy's! It's in the bible!

Yes. Read it to be literal. Also get a good reference Bible and that will help. It will show you other places that might help you to understand it better..
