Airlie Beach.
My son is there right now - he is loving it.
No arrests or hassles like at the gold coast.
They are even cruising the Whitsundays islands on Friday at discounted prices.

Sunshine coast where I live is a great place....but they are banning schoolies from next year (bloody council).
However, when I leeve school, im planning to take a trip to QUeenstown in NZ. Bungee Jumping, White Water Rafting, Zorbing, Jet Boating and more......a weeks trip.
More expensive than going to the gold coast for a week but it couldnt be much more if u stay at a hostel. And the best thing is that u can drink booze if u have someone that is 18 (i will be and all my mates will be 17!!!!)
Thats what im planning to do.

We went to Alexandra Headlands/Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. A little bit cheaper than the Gold Coast and not as full on. They had some organised stuff there but not as much as the Gold Coast. That was a few years ago so I would look into it. Mind you there is the beach, shops and accommodation. That is the important stuff.

I agree...Airlie Beach is so laid back. Some Schoolies plan day trips while there to different islands on the Whitsundays. It is more of a relaxed getaway than a drunken getaway.
