You can go to any VFW or American Legion Post and find plenty.
I find it hard to believe that there are none in your family.
I'm a war veteran, with 13 months in the comabt zone, 1968-1969. What would you like to put in your essay?
Do you want to know about the 12-16 hour days/7 days a week that I ut in working on Hueys/ Do you want to know how I felt when my son was born and I wasn't there? Do you want to know what it feels like not o get mail from your brothers and sisters, and an occasional lettter from your mom? Do you want to know how I felt when I found out that some of my friends didn't make it back, or some came back as seriously damaged, physically and mentally? Do you want to know why I went?Do you want to know about how it feels to lay on the ground and listen to the mortars go off and pray one dosen't find you?
Its all in what you want to write about. I'll even send you a few pictures.

Sorry they stopped selling them on E-bay, contravention of their rules!!! :-P

Seriously it depends where you live there must be a Military Veterans Association listed in the phone book,

If in the U.K. look up the British Legion.

check in your phone book, in the government, look for veterans affairs office or veterans service office in your county, state of in washington. i am sure that they can put you in contact with a vet.
but, i must say, if you don't know of anyone that is a veteran, you are leading a very sheltered life
