The only way it could be true was if her candy was liquid or gel like, because no liquids can be carried on a plane anymore (thanks to the $%^&* terrorists) if they're over 3 ounces. My mom wanted me to carry an apple pie home on my flight that she'd bought for me, so I called the airline and asked them if that was Ok. They said the TSA security guys would probably take it away because of all the liquid/gel in the pie.

Candy for personal consumption should not be a problem. IF it is suspected that the candy is for commercial use or if it exceeds certain customes value then maybe a customes duty would be applied but a straight out refusal is highly unlikely.

What kind of candy? Sealed package or not? Liquid or not? Most candy should be allowed but you never know...

it's not true, unless the candy was extremely large and filled with more than 3 ounces of liquid. Or, I suppose, if it was shaped like a gun, or explosives.

Sometimes it can--it has to be small, hard candy. Anything liquid isn't okay.
