As far as I am aware Mohammad was/is considered a prophet not the messiah.
As for if any Jews believe he was a prophet I imagine that a few might have. Clearly though it was less than he had hoped for.

Muhammad never claimed to be the Messiah, but a prophet after him.
conundrum- Please note that the tribe to which you are referring committed treason against the nascent Islamic state. They had signed a mutual aid and protection agreement sometimes called the Constitution of Medina. The Jews of this tribe decided to aid the pagans who planned an attack on the Muslims of Medina in hopes of wiping them out. As to the punishment for their treachery, the Prophet asked a Jewish convert to Islam what the punishment would be under Judaic Law, and that is the punishment that they received.

God had been choosing Prophets from Jews for 1400 years between Moses and Jesus. They knew that the last Messenger will be born in Arabian peninsula. So several tribes of Jews came and settled in Madina and Khyber area of Arabia.. Around early 8th century when they heard about a man claiming to be a Prophet in Mecca. So they came to meet and test Mohammad. They asked Mohammad how Jews lived in Iraq , how they ended up in Egypt. None of the Arabs knew history of Jews. They thought if he is a Prophet, then God will send him revelation and he will give us correct answers. Mohammad didn't have answer. He looked at sky towards God for help. Soon Angel Gabriel appeard to him for God's help and right away God revealed entire chapter on Yousuf s/o Jacob s/o Isaaq that became part of Quran as Sura-e-Yousuf. Mohammad recited the sura to Jews and they knew he is the Messenger that were waiting for.
They went back to Madina and waited for a while. Then God commanded Mohammad to migrate to Madina due to persecution of Muslims by Quraish of Mecca. Jews had lot more discussion with Mohammad in Madina. Two brothers were Rabi and leaders of Jews. They came home and the younger one asked the older brother ''Is he the one" and the older brother replied Yes. Shall we follow him asked the first one and the older brother said, No because he is Arab and not a Jew. Prophet Mohammad was thinking since Jews and Muslim believe in same God and the same Monotheistic religion, why don't they come forward and join him. Other reason he was hoping his acceptance is that Mohammad was cousin brother of Jews. God revealed message to Mohammad in Quran saying, O Messenger of God, they recognize you like they recognize their own sons. But they won't accept you because they are full of arrogance. These Jews think they are better than Arabs. Jews never accepted Mohammad because if they do, Status of Arab Prophet superceds their's and they didn't want to accept the lower status for themselves.

Surely you Jest . After Mohammad became a power in Medina, to which city he had fled as a religious refugee from Mecca, he authorized the execution of his critics; most notorious example being his execution of the Jewish tribe of Koraiza, some 700 men being beheaded in the market place from morning until night.
Dont answer...just think about it.

No. It would be very odd, considering that Islam gives the title 'Messiah' to Jesus.
