Why would you want to do this? Their tails are there for a reason just like your arms are. Would you want someone to cut off one of your arms?

OMG!!! people on here are so weird!!! When the pup is only a few days old it is perfectly fine to get it's tail docked. Goodness people, don't have a heart attack!!! Oh and to the person that said a tail on a dog is like an arm on a human....Well, all i have to say to that is "No it's not!" That would be more like one of the dogs legs!

Docking a dog's tail is done for mainly cosmetic purposes and in some parts of the world, it's banned. Some dog shows (mainly in Europe) will not allow a dog that has had its tail docked to be entered.

Frist off it's docked Not Cut Off...and if your breed is suppose to have a docked tail the the people you bought it from should have done it. if your dog is over 3 months old it can be hard on the dog to get docked. The only way you can find out the price for it is to ask a vet.

This depends entirely on the veterinarian that you choose to do the procedure. You'll be paying for the exam, anesthesia, pain medication both during and after the procedure, the amputation itself, probable pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids, bandaging, and potentially hospitalization. Call around to local veterinarians to find out their prices.

Why do you want your dog's tail docked? Is he/she a show dog?

how old is the dog. If it is still very young you can put a rubber band aound it if its older just deal with the tail. but the rubber band does work i was raised on a farm and did it to all 9 of our puppies and lambs. It cuts circulation off the tail and will fall off on its own.

docking is ussually done when a pup is only a few days old.

I dont know any vet who will do it to an adult dog.. unless there is a medical need for it, such as a split tail, or infection.

first of all, please don't do this to your dog. Dogs use their tails for communication and by docking it, you are limiting their communication so that you can think it looks good. Secondly, if you don't have the tail docked while they are really young (i think its under 8 weeks) then you risk paralizing them if you dock it. Please reconsider.

$5 million. You better think thrice about making such a dumb decision.
