We have a 9 yr old lab mix and an 11 wk old Australian Shepherd. We've been looking for a better food to feed them since we've been feeding IVet (vet recommended, what a joke) and both dogs are scratching, itching. So we've narrowed it down to Canidae All Life Stages or Chicken Soup (we'de buy the Adult and Puppy if we choose CS).

Does anyone have opinions/experience with these foods? Which do you think would be best? I've overloaded myself with info on both foods and they both seem great and fall within the price range we can spend; but if we choose the Canidae we would have the benefit of only having to buy one food for both dogs.

Help me end this madness of trying to decide! :-)

I've actually fed my dog both of these foods. Started out with the Chicken Soup, and switched to Canidae. Don't really know why, just for a change for her. I did notice with the Chicken Soup she was a bit more gassy (but she is a big dog and has the tendency to be gassy anyways! So I'm not sure if I can blame it on the food or not.) I have been switching back and forth now between the Canidae All Life Stages, and the Lamb and Rice and she does well and seems to like both of them. Still gassy...but not as much.
I too went through and got over loaded with info, as I wanted to feed my girl a better food. I did try Innova, which is a really good food, but a bit more expensive. Switched to these when I saw that they were just as good, and not as expensive. Hope this helps!

All my golden eat Canidea Lamb and Rice formula. My pup has been eat Canidae since he was 11 weeks old. Golden's are large breed dogs and they are doing beautifully on the Canidae! All 3 of my golden's are eating the Canidae so you can start right now. No need to wait at all.

I've not tried the chicken soup kind but I did change from Iams to Canidae, and doggy wouldn't finish the Iams; apparently Canidae was much better. But I think I goofed in buying my 2nd bag- I got the lamb & rice and they don't care for it as much as all life stages.

My dog has a VERY sensitive stomach and Canidae is pretty much the only dog food that doesn't give him the runs.

I have had the best luck with Canidae. it works for dogs with a lot of different needs and sensitivities.

Either one, they are both great foods! High meat content, no fillers, quality grains instead of corn and wheat, overall just very nice ingredient lists.

You don't have to chose one or the other, you can use both and rotate between them every other bag of food or so. No single dog food is perfect, and rotation helps the dog get protien from different meats. Also, it helps against developed allergies.

I would try Canidae. There's less grain.
