NO BIASED AWNSERS!!!

I know Vista cannot run a lot of the programs XP can, but if they are officialy discontinnuing XP, that means it will start to decline. Now I know that Vista can get over-complicated (or so says my dad) but NOBODY IS MAKING ANY GOOD PROGRAMS FOR IT! And most all of my current programs are XP only. I'm getting a new computer and I need to know,

XP or Vista?

Stick with XP or (if you're feeling adventurous and hate getting screwed by Microsoft) switch to Mac or Linux. I haven't read any good reviews of Vista.

I just switched back to XP today.

I love the look of Vista, have to admit that. And I tried so hard to get it to all "just work" like a normal functioning operating system but with no luck. There are constant problems that just take time to figure out (then again thats how i became a computer pro :-D), and overall its just not solid.

Vista has also somewhat redefined the "Windows Expierence". It seems that all previous versions follow an "along the same line" of look. As in My Documents, the start menu, and things like that. But in Vista, things are more "Simplistic".You will notice several little differences that make Vista completely different from all the others. The point of this was, if a person who has never even used a windows machine before and picked a Vista machine up, it wouldnt be so hard for them. So some say, Vista is for the simple-minded computer user.

Pertaining to your question, It is true that Vista will not run a lot of programs from the past and even some of the present. Most major companies are putting out patches to fix it but its up to you to wait. But, if you like Photoshop, Nero, and other name brand software - you are in luck because they have long since released Vista compatible software. But if you have older programs that you just dont want to let go of yet, Vista is not for you.

This goes for gaming as well, I ve run into numerous problems with classic games and even games that were released last year. Sad thing is, I barely even use my computer for gaming but the select view i chose just didnt work.

Well this is gone on far to long, your probably getting fed up with reading this hahah, SO to conclude all this. In my opinion (and several others as well) Vista isnt the smartest choice right now. Stick around though, SP1 is supposed to be good :-).

if you have anymore questions id be glad to answer them, just send me an email :-).

I totally agree. I mean not to be biased but XP is better. Vista great, flashy and all; but truth be told Vista is much harder to use than XP. Microsoft may think there making it easier, when in actual fact they are making harder. So, I think if your looking for ease of use and availability go XP. But looking for a software that can run 2Gb, 3Gb games then go for Vista.

Remember......

The decision is YOURS !

I started to use VISTA in my desktop computer two months ago. I retained my XP in my laptop.

I prefer to use XP. VISTA executes slowly in my desktop that uses a Core Duo processor.

My technical people I know says that VISTA has a lot of errors and need further fine tuning.

Vista is fine as long as you are running 2 gigs of memory... I believe they canceled the discontinuation of XP because everyone hates vista.. XP is still alive and kicking and being sold everywhere.
