NO.......Once the Deer is LEGALLY tagged in the field after being shot, there is no requirement after it has been checked to leave the antlers on for processing. The only reason the antlers are left on originally is to prove the Deer was a Buck and was legally taken in compliance with the season bag requirements in the state where it was killed. Other than that there is no legal need to leave the antlers on....

Of course if you wish to have the antlers mounted , it is a good idea to remove the head /antlers or just the antlers before the Deer is processed/butchered
