First off, understand that the "dog years" is only calculating a pet's age in HUMAN years. So it doesn't mean how old the animal is. It's just to relate aging between humans and dogs.

For cats it's not as simple an equation as dogs. The first two years are like 24 human years and then after that each year of the cat's life equals four years of a human's.

Punk raw has it good. I have seen a chart in the doc's office and it is not an easy equation like when people say 1 dog year+ 7 human years. My cat only lived to 17 and I was very disappointed. She should have made it to an equivalent of 100 at her rate.
