No, only when the silver cord is broken. When you experience an out of body travel it's the soul that leaves the body. The spirit is the life source. Without that you would be dead. Although I have read 2 books by Dannion Brinkley, the guy that was struck by lightning in the 70s and was dead for 20min. or so. He met 13 spirit guides, as he called them who gave him 112 prophesies and by 1995 over 90 had come to pass. I read this book in 1995 when he told of having illegal immigrants crossing the borders of Mexico and other South American countries. He was told that eventually have to call out the national guard. Arnold S. Gov. of Cal. was the first to call over 2,000 troops to the border there. He also was told that we would not be able to stop them.
Another one I have been waiting to see come to pass is the computer chip that would be inserted under the skin of the hand and it would have all information about you. No more currency, earnings would be programed in the chip. Health records, address, phone, every private information about your whole life will be stored in this chip. Your hand would be scanned for all of you purchases and bills paid by this chip. I actually watched this procedure being performed in a hospital room on one of the documentary shows, I nearly dropped my teeth. Can't buy or sell without it. Scary uh?
After given these messages he was told it was not his time and he had not fulfilled his purpose on earth and he said "zip" back in his body he went. Burned beyond recognition. Amazing things he saw in the spirit world. He was also told that we are highly spiritual beings having a human experience and that only the bravest of souls come to earth.

Not necessarily. It is possible for people to have an out of body experience and then return to their bodies.

Near-Death experiences mean that your heart has stopped, so they are different (but very similar) to OBE's or Astral Travel. The experiences can be very similar. Still, you don't need to be 'near death' to have an OBE. Shaman's have been doing it for centuries.
