The person who posted the question probably posted the report which led to the violation. You can challenge the violation to Yahoo, and if they agree with you they will remove the violation and return your two points.
I have gotten a couple of violations in my time in yA! and the ones I challenged were removed. The ones I didn't challenge were ones I cheerfully deserved.
God will be the final arbitor in these violations.

First of all, understand it's not Yahoo giving violations or even paying any attention. If you complain you will get a computerized response.
Since we are given the capability to moderate each other, there will be those who collude to get an unwarranted violation. But it does keep some semblence of order.
My suggestion is to stay away those questions which have evolved into namecalling. Who wants to be around those people anyway.
People who have a rude question probably know it. So, there is nothing to be gained by telling them.
You are right, it's not fair. But it's the way it is.

I have received violations in the past. Now I do not answer the ones that I may reply "You are being rude." too. It's not the points that matter anyway. I answer the ones that I think I can help. That is what this is all about. So just ignore the ones that are rude and think of it this way............they aren't worth waisting your time over. Keep up the good work!

I believe that some people may give someone a violation just to get even for some imagined slight.

Violations are not fair. Many violations are merely the vengeance of someone who cannot handle a different view.

Who knows how this stuff works. Yahoo! apparently doesn't either. I have no idea who makes the decision, or if it is automated, or if there is some sort of triage they go through in automation tha teventually gets to a human? I don't really know. Some of the stuff i see, i wonder how it makes it if there are bots on here...

I reported someone with a pornographic avatar, then told them I reported them and called them e m i l s (read it backwards), and I got a violation. I don't know. Maybe it's an automated thing.
