I'm the same way, my normal body temp. is right at 97 so I have to figure that in when I take my temp. It is a fever for you, but not a bad one. You could take some tylenol to knock it down a little, but keep in mind that a mild fever is the body's natural way to combat infection! A light fever isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as it doesn't go on too long or get too high. I was reminded of this by a Doctor once, I'm not just talking out my a**.
Good Luck and I hope you start to feel better!

Everyones body temp is different - I work in a hospital where we use certain drugs that actually lower the body temp. We consider a fever for these people any temp that is 2 degrees higher than that persons base temp. Mind you I'm in Canada and we use Celsius.

98.6 is on the edge for anyone. 98.7 is a fever. if ur normally around 96 then a bad fever could be starting take advil or tylenol right away. u can take advil every 4-6 hours and tylenol two hours after u take advil.

Yes - you are 2 degrees above your baseline temperature. I would treat it as a fever (tylenol or ibuprofen). That would be like a 98.6 degree person now having a 100.6 degree temp.

If you went to the ER, they wouldn't know what your normal temp. is. They automatically consider 99.6 a low-grade fever. One full point over 98.6.
Interesting question. Give that girl a star!! :)

Not by definition.
Fever is considered such when body temp. is above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
But fever doesn't always mean illness; and sometimes overwhelming diseases and or severe infections can cause body temp. to drop (like in many cases of toxic shock synd.).

Yes, I think it would signal a fever for you since it's about 2 degrees above normal for your body.

Maybe not a fever yet but it is probably higher because you're sick.

Changes of a degree or two happen all the time and don't mean anything. Also, digital thermometers are often a degree or two off.
